The Terminal with Tom Hanks...
... it was a cute little movie.. watched it last night over some coffee and a slice of pie..

Tom Hanks does the accent so well..

... not necessarily an "epic" per se.. but a neat little movie to check out. I think it should be on out DVD pretty soon. I got a few chuckles out of it, and it's sort of heartwarming. Sad, and yet a bit feel-good at the same time.

Just thought I'd throw that out there.

:dunce:

1. Haven;t seen it, but it sounds good. Still, I think that the
true story that inspired it is a lot more interesting and would have made a more compelling plot.

Getting sorta sick of how Hollywood, even the better guys there, consistently seems to believe that Americans won't watch or like the film unless it's transmogrified into happening on American soil or focused on Americans in place of the people actually involved {the steaming pile of crap known as U-571 being one of the more recent worst examples of the latter). Of course, I suspect that they're right...

11. The real story is kind of sad.
Edited on Wed Nov-24-04 09:52 PM by ocelot
A refugee from Iran arrived in Paris without a passport in 1988. He couldn't leave the airport without papers and couldn't go anywhere else, so he's been living at CDG ever since. After a long time he finally got permission to leave the airport, but he's sort of gone crazy and now refuses to leave. He keeps his stuff in a pile around him and people give him food, kind of like a homeless guy under a bridge. Not a happy-happy kind of thing like the movie. http://www.csmonitor.com/2004/0621/p11s02-almo.html

12. Yep. This page has a pretty good summary:

When I first read of this poor dude's predicament, I thought it'd make a great movie. I wish they hadn't 'adapted' it, in some ways, but I'd still love to see the film if it's as good as it sounds.

2. Thanks for sharing.
I love Tom Hanks. I've been in love with him since "Bosom Buddies" with Peter Scolari. Cause I know you wanted that information from me. Happy Thanksgiving!

6. Of course.

Yeah, he really does an excellent job on the accent in The Terminal...top notch... I have been trying (unsuccessfully) to imitate it around the house since last night.

8. Yeah, that sucks..
Watching a movie of bad quality... I managed to burn the Terminal to VCD and it came out realy good, about VHS quality, sound a bit low, but no hiss when I turned it up to compansate, so clean video, clean audio.

...and some delicious coffee and a piece of (mmmmmmmmmmmm) pie.

9. I too enjoyed it far more than I thought I would
just a sweet story but when you delve deeper...I saw it a while ago in the theatre so I forget. But I remember finding a good meaning to the film.

10. I really enjoyed how everybody was rooting for him....
... and I realy grew to hate that head security guy. I almost jerked a tear when he agreed to leave to keep his friends from getting fired/in trouble.

I also like how everyone go to know him and was rooting for him.

Great lighthearted story. I like a story like that, one that's not too "heavy" like a lot of them are and you can just mellow out and enjoy it.
