Swift Boat Veterans Still Hounding Kerry
BOSTON—Swift Boat Veterans For Truth, a group that gained national prominence in the months before the 2004 election, announced Monday that it will continue its campaign "to set the record straight about John Kerry."

"We've made great progress in spreading the truth about John Kerry's treasonous past, but our job isn't over just because he lost the presidency," said John O'Neill, founding member of the Swift Vets and author of Unfit For The Community, a new book arguing that Kerry's Vietnam service record indicates that he would make a dangerous neighbor. "John Kerry is a threat to every American he comes in contact with, whether he's running for president, getting his oil changed, or going to a movie with his wife."

Although many expected the Swift Vets' campaign to end when Bush was re-elected, a spokesman for the group said its efforts have only begun.

"Just because that lying, cheating, opportunistic fraud from Massachusetts happened to be the Democratic presidential nominee, people assumed our efforts were politically motivated," said retired Rear Adm. Roy Hoffman, chairman of Swift Boat Veterans For Truth. "Well, Kerry's loss to George W. Bush does not undo the deeds of his youth."

Check out Peter Savodnik's article from The Hill newspaper (link above):

"The controversial veterans group that trashed the war record of Democratic Sen. John Kerry during the presidential campaign and helped hand President Bush a second term will remain a potent force, according to an associate of the group.

"Chris LaCivita, who was a paid political consultant to Swift Boat Veterans for Truth during the campaign but said he is no longer on the payroll, asserted that the organization, with 280 members nationwide, is pondering its next step."

And look at this:

"Retired Rear Adm. Roy Hoffmann, who oversaw the Swift boat operation in Vietnam and founded the anti-Kerry group, said members would probably be interested in fighting a future Kerry bid for the White House, which some Democrats say is possible."

Is there an antibiotic we can use to clear up this condition?

13. I didn't realize it, but I've had a Swift-Boat veteran in my home.

My roommate has a good friend who is a retired tug boat operator. He's been in this house several times over the years and I've been to a home he once had down here. Imagine my surprise when right before the election he told her he was on a swift-boat that used to "tie up" next to Kerry's in Viet Nam. He is totally convinced that Kerry did not deserve at least one of the purple hearts he received because, get this, he was immediately back on his swift-boat like nothing had happened to him. Also, this friend said that he had never raped, cut off ears, or mutilated in any way any Viet Cong or others while he served in Viet Nam. Therefore, I guess he is saying that since he didn't, that no one did. He's one of the many vets that were extremely upset, still to this day, about what Kerry said about soldiers committing atrocities. And to think I really liked this guy. I can understand some of the vets from Viet Nam not agreeing with everything Kerry said, but, god, compare him to asshole *.

grrr

Oh, and The Onion does have funny stuff. Truly ironic to point out how ridiculous it is to say Kerry is dangerous when * is killing thousands of people.

eh

how the hell is Kerry a "threat" when he goes to the movie? Shit, you'd think those morans would shut up by now.

Of course, if it were the truth then I'd have every reason to be angry.
