Okay...So what's the appeal of "Scarface"?
LOVE Al Pacino, but to me Scarface is too over the top. Pacino's performance is way over the top, and the ending made me squirm both times I've seen it. So, what's the appeal? People who like this movie really seem to LOVE this movie. Why?

9. Does it make me sick if I think
the screenplay is funny. I mean, the movie is so over the top I laugh at places where I think I'm not supposed to.

8. Do yourself a favor and watch the original
The Hawks version is inspired; DePalma's remake was and is a trainwreck.

12. I hate it!
a glorification of evil ending in an orgasmic bloodbath...pah!

Paul Muni (the original Scarface) must have been spinning like a top in his grave...

15. And he *is* a good actor! I don't get it either.
I've seen only parts of Scarface, and I've not watched it in its entirety for the reason you talked about. It seemed SO over the top as to be a waste of 2 hours. I know it's such a blah blah blah, wowie, big picture for Pacino....I don't have to sit through it.
