4. Overall, sad (vent coming)
I was born and raised in redder than red North Carolina, went to "liberal" part of the state for college, then ran off to wonderful Blue California.

Then, last year, I was coming home through the Hollywood Hills (all twisty and stuff) and hit head on by an SUV (as if I needed another reason to hate them). Almost died, ended up being in a wheelchair for a few months, then a walker and then a cane.

My family brought me back to North Carolina because I needed all the help I could get. Now, a year later.... I'm still here! I miss California soooooo much, and I want to go back but don't know how to do it. My mom was diagnosed with cancer right after my accident, so she wants to have me around (and I want to be around for her).

But.. Im back in the redredred. So red that whenever I tell people anything they said "Tell it to God".

Anyone have a UHaul I can borrow?

</vent>

11. I appreciate it
I'm trying to keep myself sane while I'm here. I worked the polls on election day because then I could feel like I was doing something although I knew 75% of the county was voting Repug.

I had to leave all my friends behind, and the people here treat me like an alien. I'm an educated, liberal blonde woman. Oh my God!

Oh well. I guess I can only do what I can for my Mom while I'm here (she was diagnosed Stage 4, so it's not looking that good.)

PSA: Ask your doctor about getting a colonoscopy if you're in you're 50's! (or hey, even younger- if there's cancer in your family, ask at 30).

The good part, if there is one, is that I'm making a rather large sum of money off of my accident, so I hope to give a lot to a colon cancer research foundation, or start a group for cancer education.

9. Sad
Sometimes I get optimistic and a little happy thinking I'll be happier. Then my pessimism seems to kick in again. Having too much hope scares me. But then I manage to muster up the strength to take another step forward to keep making things a little better. We'll see.

13. School full-time, work sucking full-time
Yeah, I'm pretty sad. I keep having this nagging feeling that my outlook would improve if I could only sneak up on a guy I work with and smack him upside the head.

14. Happy, actually
In the real world, the worst has happened, and the fall of the US empire will continue unimpeded. This is not a good thing, but since I see it as inevitable, better sooner than later. Real change can't happen until after the fall.

The strain and worry is off, so I can move forward on helping to lay the groundwork for after the fall.

I'm really liking the new DU groups, and feeling more comfortable here, and so posting more, which is good because it gives me an outlet for more thoughts. I'm not really a very verbal person.

Thanks for asking!

:hi:

16. Chalk up another one for sad
Me and my SO been through stuff you can never imagine this month, right now it appears the relationship status is "undetermined" at this point. I would be asleep now but I can never sleep with a problem on my mind.
