Cool, I'm watching Vancouver/Chicago 1982 NHL Western Conference final
This is the game where the white towel tradition started among Vancouver fans, then later everywhere else.

I love watching vintage hockey games.

Anyone else see it?

9. Sure - listen up people
In 1982 the Canucsk were getting fucked around by bad refing in the Western Conference final. THen Coach Roger Nielsen took a white towel and but it on a hockey stick and began waving it to say "We surrender!" The players joined in and Nielsen was tossed and penalties were handed out.
The next game the canucks played in Vancouver the entire crowd showed up with white towels to swing.
Since the towel has become the rally cry of canuck fans. And it has spread to other sports as well.

even though they rarely show hockey games on it, when they do it's nice. they never do though, i'd kill for some hockey right now.
