Good vacuum for house with 3 cats, one a longhair?
The Eureka we have is falling apart. I need something that can handle 3 cats worth of hair (all domestic, one a longhair) and scattered litter. Anybody have any recommendations?

2. I LOVE my little canister Dirt Devil. It SUCKS well... no bags, clean the
little gizmo canister, rinse out the filter every week or so, and it's done well with our dust, 3.5 furry dogs and 11 year old child.

VERY light-weight, easy to drag around, easy to use attachments, takes up very little room, well designed and not terribly noisy.

I give it a thumbs up! Read the epinions!

3. My wind tunnel works well with my cat and bulldog
The bulldog sheds horribly and the wind tunnel gets all the dog hair up really well. I like it because it doesn't take bags and you can see when it needs emptying. Only thing is you have to clean the filter whenever you empty the cannister, or else the pet hair makes it not suck as well.

4. Depends on how much you want to spend.
I really like the Dyson my mom has, but they don't come cheap.

My higher end Eureka also works extremely well (and is much better than the cheaper Eureka I had before).

7. we swear by our Kenmore
We have cats (currently 8) and b/c we are clean freaks, we vacuum like every 2 days. Our Kenmore canister vac is the best. We have had it for 4+ year. My partner used to clean houses and her company only used these vacuums.

We also get the Sears maintenance plan so it gets serviced and cleaned once I year. In my limited experience (and I usually hate maintenance plans) this is totally worth it with a vacuum.

12. The Rainbow is terrific, but you are going to spend $800 to $1000 easy
on one of those. No bags, you fill the tank with water. The dirt, dust, and cat hair go into the water any you get rid of it all when you empty the tank. No cat hair or cat dander recycling back into your air.

(Caveat: That water in the tank can get rather nasty...)

13. Just ordered a Eureka online.
After 8 -9 years, my handheld Dirt Devil blew up last week. Finally a good excuse to get something I could use standing up. My old flat was so small, it was easy to clean on my hands and knees. My current flat is large enough to procrastinate a vacuuming. Especially if you're not dating anyone.

14. We have a Miele and 4 cats
living in the house. The only thing that worries me is that the motor is so quiet that they aren't afraid and the suction is so great on max that it might hurt them if they got too close. So far, no accidents and it is a pleasure to use.
