1. nope, I agree. And I am still not patronizing any business in my town
that openly promoted Bush. We had one Bar/Restaurant owner here send fliers out to the gold mines when they were smearing Kerry over him proposing royalty fees on the mines to pay for fire-fighting. Their flier went to the miners and said they had gotten rid of all Heinz products in protest against Kerry on the mining royalties and boy did the rednecks come out of the woodwork. I will never frequent that business again as long as the current owner and management are there.

4. Tee-hee...getting rid of their Heinz products hurt republican business.
Since the Heinz family hasn't really been involved in the company since the 80's.

2. With the exception of Video stores and Theaters, no biz should be open.
Okay, maybe the grocery stores should be open in case you need extra egg-nog.

I think video stores and movie houses should be open b/c it allows families to spend time together.

3. I usually work on holidays
This year is an exception. So I might need to get something. One Christmas I was working my night shift and when I went on break at 10 my only option for dinner was a convenience store hot dog.

8. I'm so sorry!
When my husband worked for the city of Ft. Worth, he volunteered to be the one working Christmas. He was divorced and not allowed to see his children (despite a court order to the contrary), and he wanted to make sure people with kids were able to stay home with them that day.

5. Oh I agree.... If I am getting the day off, I want them to get the day off
People that have to work on the big holidays or forgo a day's pay have my complete sympathy.

The one good thing about the old "blue laws" was that commercial distractions were muted for that one day of the week.

7. I try to be selective on where I shop
not only on major holidays but all the time. I try to get stuff from locally owned stores and local craftspeople rather than places like Walmart. I feel bad for people who have to work on holidays, and it would seem to me if a whole bunch of folks refuse to shop on holidays, maybe stores won't be open.

On another thought-will the Bush Administration reinstate blue laws (making it illegal to have stores open on Sundays)? After all, one of the Ten Commandments says to remember the Sabboth and keep it holy.

10. The new guy running Kmart, which is open today is also on the boards of
Halliburton and Disney. He was Hired away from YUM! Brands, which own KFC, Taco Bell, A&W, Long John Silver's and Pizza Hut, all of which should be boycotted, due to the way KFC suppliers treat chicken, and Taco Bell tomato suppliers treat farm workers :( IMHO, of course.

Kmart being open today is thought of as a great idea by Alwynn Lewis CEO.

11. well i was let into the local supermarket right now 15 min after closing
because i go every day and was desperate. i did feel a little guilty about it, but maybe some of them are none to anxious to see their families. I can't assume anybody wants to celebrate Xmas. I think that other holidays off that don't carry an expectation of the family thing might be better for me! i have little family left and we like each other, but they are so stressed, it aint' like it used to be.

13. I'm not totally against it, depending upon how they operate.
As long as they give their employees the option, and don't force them to work. I could care less about holidays, and was happy to work for employees that wanted to spend time with their families.

14. It would be nice if you did.
But since you posted on an internet portal Today, and I am monitoring/fixing AT&T's network for 8 hours today, you have no right to brag.
