2. How did you handle school as a young kid?
Did you take things straight forward or avoid certain activities and situations?

or should i say, was.

turned out that at the age of 40 or so, this lifelong stutterer/stammerer saw a neurologist for unrelated reasons and corrected his diagnosis to tourette's syndome. this sounds like bad news but it actually isn't, because tourette's is treatable. after tinkering with some meds for 6 months or so, his stutter/stammer practically vanished.

changed his life. turns out tourette's is far more common than most people think. the t.v. stereotype of involuntary cursing is only one particular symptom, and not an especially common one at that.

4. HMMM? I am prone to outbursts of obscenities but they are usually
warranted.
As a kid my parents spent a ton a money on the best speech therapists in Boston. Needless to say the therapy's didnt work. Around age 12 they discontinued this. At 24 my fiance at the time found a program at San Diego State University that was free. That program wasnt a real therapuetic environment but mainly we were there for questions and observations by grad students.
Maybe I'll ask my doc about the Tourrettes.

6. Sometimes
but mumbling is my main problem. My mom once told me I was as incomprehensible as Keith Richards. Nice, eh?

8. When I 1st met my husband and in our early marriage my husband stuttered
He was very shy and nervous with everyone when we 1st met. I'm an outgoing person that never meets a stranger. I think being around me for so long (34 yrs) it has helped him be more comfortable with himself and with others. He had a bad childhood and I think that had an affect on him and caused the stuttering. We've worked through the pain of his childhood and he knows I love him with all my heard and I know he loves me with all his heart. Now he NEVER stutters. So stuttering can be overcome.

10. I go through spells where I dont stitter at all. The spells
could last for days, weeks, months and even for a year, which it did on one occaision. But then I either fade back into the stuttering pattern or something abrupt or stress-inducing occurs and it comes back again.

This is very frustrationg and after 49 years you'd think that I'd have it licked by now.
