10. LOL!
That's like asking: "Protesting? At the RNC?"

I don't buy into the bankruptcy of the culture anymore. This is not my Holy Day.

To fast on this day is like not being a good consumer for the Solistice, (no, I am not a pagen per se). I can't see paying for what is going on. If we pay for it -- fueling the machine -- we are condoning it all. I do not intend to do so when I can avoid adding more of my input to the coffers of the war machine.

I fast in memory the 30-35,000 childern who die each day because of easily preventable hunger and lack of cheap medical care.

I fast with concern for the daily loss of lives, (both US and Iraqi) in yet another economic war that benefits only the wealthy and big corporations. It was that process from the economic hit, to the "Jackals" to, assassins, to the current, miltary solution.

I don't put down other people's celebration and thankfulness. I am just at the point where this feels more like the opposite of something to be thankful for.

8. AT WORK
I put the turkey in the deep fryer for my wife and 16 visiting in-laws then came to my three to eleven shift where I'm looking forward to a glorious complimentary hospital cafeteria meal. Can't wait.

13. Yowza!! I love a Trinidad repast, CallaLoo and Pilau
Along with the turkey and trimmings. Those are the memories of my childhood. I MISS dancing to the mighty Sparrow after dinner! I'm going to Carnival in Trinidad this year!

16. My turkey is still on the grill
I started cooking late. But the dressing is ready, the potatoes are roasting on the grill for mashing later, and I'm steaming a bag of veggies. And Costco caramel apple pie.

21. well as can be expected
slept until noon (I work nights and pretty much stick to that schedule when I'm off). Talked to my family on the phone - pretty dreadful stuff. I'm alone - got some invitations for dinner but declined because I'm just not up to it. My ex-boyfriend will be looking into getting me a flight to Chicago Monday. All in all a f***ed up Thanksgiving. But, I still have a lot to be thankful for - like great DUers who were there in my darkest hour.

I cheered myself up yesterday by shopping for the senior gal I adopted for Christmas - doing stuff like that always makes me feel better. :)

22. I am sorry that this all came about for you...
at all, but especially during this season.

I am glad that you will be able to fly up to Illinois to be with your family.

How sweet of you to adopt an elderly person. I have never thought about doing that--I might just look into it for this christmas.

:-)

Warmest wishes to you.

23. I adopt through work
my company adopts a big apartment bulding for low-income seniors in Dallas. My gal wanted a can opener (non electric), headphones for her TV and a flashlight. I got her those things plus batteries and some pricy lotion. :)
