Do duplicate posts dilute the message?
It can give the appearance that few find issue with the topic if only a few respond to the post.
I seem to recall a saying, "divide and conquer" which is ringing in my head when I see dupe threads begun by people with very low post counts.

1. I think they do
but the dupe threads are not always started by people with low post counts.

Just my 2 cents.

4. Maybe I am just too suspicious
I was beginning to notice MORE of this type of behavior and wondered if it was a deliberate tactic.
I would not want people to think that dems have given up.

5. The mods must be real sick of me about now
because when I see all those dupes, I alert them.

Ditto for the non-breaking news stories, and unlinked stories in the LBN forum.

2. Or, you could look at 100 threads on a subject and conclude
that a lot of folks are up in arms.
Actually, 50 threads with 5 messages load faster, and can differentiate
several aspects of the same phenominon.

But that is not the way it works here, and I don't have a big problem with that.

3. If you find duplicates,
a link to previous discussion is a good thing. Duplicates can be irritating, but sometimes they seem to enable more folks to find the issue.

6. from a newbie...
When I first started, I would forget to check the previous threads to make sure I wasn't duping. I'm learning! :eyes:

7. Dupes allow a person that does not live
on DU a chance to keep up, without archive diving.

What I have a problem with is when someone post the exact same article on every forum so that the Discussion Forums listing has a dozen or more starting posts in a row, all on the same thing.
