Dogs are loyal. Yeah, riiiiiiggggghhhhttttt!
Edited on Fri Nov-26-04 04:51 PM by Padraig18
My grandmother is visiting us for a few days, and it's a true joy to have her around. Since she arrived, there's been so much FUN here--- Tony and I have both laughed more and laughed harder than we have in a long time. She's also very independent and requires little 'care', unlike some 90 year-olds. In fact, when we got back from sorting the newspaper bundles today around 5:30, we walked in through the kitchen kitchen door to the lovely smell of frying ham, eggs and potatoes and a freshly-made, scalding hot pot of tea, and a plate of freshly-made scones.

I've noticed one thing, though, and it puzzles me more than anything else: both of our dogs follow Gran like twin shadows. For the second night in a row, both of them slept with Gran. Now with Brody, it's semi-understandable, since he considers the bed where she sleeps 'his bed' anyway (see attached pic), but Grover NEVER doesn't sleep between Tony and I.

My question: should I check Gran's luggage before I put her on the train Sunday, to be sure she's not smuggling one of our dogs?

:P

1. Of course they follow her...
... I suspect that they also have a newfound love for fried ham and eggs and potatoes. My dogs do the same thing with my sister Judy.

2. You may be right.
Gran is a notoriously soft 'soft touch', when it comes to children and small animals.

3. Dogs are funny!
Are your dogs chow hounds?

A few of my dogs attached themselves to whoever was ruling the kitchen.

Maybe it was the ham, eggs, & potatoes that did it.

6. Both have healthy appetites.

Brody immediately sucked up to Gran, becoming 'Mr. Charm' almost from the instant she came in the door, and he and Gran have hit it off VERY well. Tony thinks part of it may be that we're gone a lot during the day, and Gran has been here all day, ever since she arrived.

4. Food, attention, and a scratching behind the ears
are Gran's secret weapons.

5. Is Brody a min pin with a tail?????
My Slicker is a big min pin and Brody looks a lot like him..the coat, esp. , but Slicker has no tail

Slicker was a stray for 8 months..a couple of times I've lost the leash and I've been damned afraid he would really take off from me....nailbiting time, since he wouldn't really come to me and I had to follow HIM!!

As for loyalty...maybe your gran smells of something really good (does she make ham and those scones at home???) and they caught a whiff when she first came into the house and have been entranced ever since!!!!

9. I do too, actually.
Gran loves dogs (and cats), so I'm pleased that they so obviously like her, too.
