"Enterprise" slams Bush admin, US foreign policy
Summary of last two eps:

Earth embassy on Vulcan blown up by "terrorists."

Vulcan high command blames, actually frames, sect of Vulcans living in the desert who follow the teachings of Surak. They're pacifists.

Turns out, Vulcan has plans to invade Andoria and doesn't need the pesky pacifists getting in the way.

Sample dialogue:

Archer: When our people are attacked, we fight back!

T'Pau: (yes, the same T'Pau from Trek movies): You would traverse a vast wasteland based on false evidence?

2. I'm not the only one that noticed?
Did you also catch the critique of "Don't Ask, Don't Tell"?

Does anyone here have any contacts with UPN, Paramount or any of the people involved in the Star Trek franchise? I have an idea.

4.  I'm actually on the West Coast so I haven't seen it yet
But I've watched this show since its inception and have noticed some great jabs at the current political climate.

5. Star Trek doesn't take ideas.
They used to have an open submissions policy, but for legal reasons discontinued it for "Enterprise." But some supportive letters to Paramount might not be a bad idea.

8. Someone I know wrote them a suggestion for STTNG
and got offered a job on their writing team.

Why not try?

3. Also,

The Vulcan High Command is accusing Andoria of developing weapons, so Vulcan needs to do a preemptive strike to prevent a war.

Yep, noticed it right away. These are the first "Enterprise" episodes I've actually been able to be interested in.

6. Missed it
But the Star Trek series through the years have often had political themes that were applicable to current events. They're much more than science fiction. They contain important social and political messages.

7. They've always been political
Star Trek's always been famous for being subversive and political.

I'm very proud of them for this story line in particular, in this political climate.

They're saying this will be the last season of Enterprise.

Let's talk this up to our local media and generate some buzz for the show. Let's see if we might get another season.

Anyway, the reason why I was asking if anyone has any contacts with UPN / Paramount / Star Trek is this...

I want to suggest a Public Relations campaign: Star Fleet Captains for Marriage Equality.

If we can get Shatner, Baccula, Patrick Stewart, Mulgrew, etc. to all sign a statement in favor of gay marriage, I think that would reach an important demographic, and be "weird" enough to get some media interest.
