Hollywood gets in on the act as US finally gets a taste for Dahl
Times
By Jack Malvern, Arts Reporter

NEARLY 15 years after their author’s death, The Twits, Fantastic Mr Fox and The BFG have arrived in Hollywood.

Next year will see the fruits of a new craze for Roald Dahl gripping film executives from Disney, Warner Bros, Sony and Paramount. Big names including John Cleese, Tim Burton and Wes Anderson have been named in four projects to adapt Dahl’s books for the big screen beginning next year.

Robert Altman, the director of Short Cuts and Gosford Park, has also signed up to direct and produce the author’s Tales of the Unexpected.

Climbing sales of Dahl’s books have made him a hot ticket in the US where his subversive writing style was slow to catch on. The books now sell a million copies a year there, rising at a rate of 50,000 a year.

1. Was waiting for this to happen.
When I saw the first trailer for Lemony Snicket's A series of unfortunate events, I went, watch, now Dahl will get some films made.

Because god knows Hollywood can't make any ORIGINAL FILMS anymore!

ARRRRGGGHHHH!

2. Didn't Dahl author "Charlie and the Chocolate Factory", later
adapted to a movie renamed "Willy Wonka and the Chocolate Factory"?

3. They've also done "Matilda" and "James and the Giant Peach"
I like "Matilda" the movie, it was done by Danny Devito. And I believe a remake of the movie version of The Chocolate Factory is planned.
