4. Probably simple
My mother has a microwave that she got in 1984 (I kid you not) that still works just as well as the day she bought it. Anyway, a few years ago it did the same thing, the fuse had blown in it after 12 years of use. It cost a whopping .89 to fix it. So open up the back or side and check the fuses :)

5. How Old Is It?
And you're not supposed to pop the old-style Jiffy-Pop Popcorn (aluminum pan with foil top) in a microwave. It could cause a time-space distortion and send you back in time.

Well... that's what happened to Fry on Futurama.

Edited on Sat Nov-27-04 02:39 PM by DemocratSinceBirth
It's a built in unit over the oven...

They are like $700.00 to replace...

I'm going to call to have it fixed and buy an el cheapo one for the interim period....

And then when it's fixed I'll give the cheap one to charity....

10. I Installed An 'Over The Rangetop' Microwave
that replaced the original rangetop hood/vent. The microwave also had a forced air exhaust vent (for the range) and a light as well. I was less than $150.00 at Home Depot.

Is that the type you're talking about? --- I installed it myself (with a little help from my partner since it's a little bulky to hold in place WHILE tightening screws.

16. Definately sounds like the magnetron.
I would check the fuses first, but it's the magnetron or power supply etc,it might be time to go shopping.

19. do you think it is contagious? Please infect my 22 year old
counter top monster so I can justify replacing it with a smaller more efficient one!

The microwave refuses to die.

So does the refrigerator.

Both Sears Both ancient.
