Off to go swimming...outdoors
Swimming is my work out thing. I live in Lafayette, LA, and swim year round outdoors. It's gotten cold(er) here now, and for my tastes, the heat in the pool take a while to catch up to my comfort level.

But it sure is enjoyable once the temp levels out. Can't do interval sets w/ lots of rest, so it's, er, LSD (long, slow distance you freaks) instead. Slosh, slosh, slosh. Everything falls away....

I've asked before, but any DU swimmers?

2. 100 laps when I can
But our aquatic fitness center just closed for remodeling. What's a fish out of water to do?

There are a ton of heated indoor hotel pools in my area (I live in Myrtle Beach) but none are olympic sized lap pools. I hate fighting tourists for pool space anyway.

The ocean water temps are down below 60 degrees now, so no ocean swimming without a wetsuit.

5. hey again Aiptasia
Yep I'm no big fan of the cold, but can kind of work through it for some body surfing. Do you dig that as well? What a blast it is. And what a workout. Swim out slowly across waves, then sprint, sprint, sprint to try and catch one.

4. hey MR
Nope. Strictly chlorine these days. I used to lots of lake swimming. And I love going on long ocean swims parallel to the shose, just out far enough to where you don't strike bottom. The extra bouancy is cool if you don't do it often.

My unoffical goal/pipe dream is to do this organized swim/race around Key West some day. Like maybe when I'm 50, which ain't that far away...

6. body surfing
I used to do that a lot when I lived in Orange County, at Newport and Huntington beaches when I was a kid. Of course, the west coast sees some real waves for most of the year and the sets break at regular intervals, so it's surfer's paradaise.

Here in Myrtle Beach, it's often too calm to do much body surfing, but on occasion you get 3-4 footers that makes it quite fun. It's fun to catch one right as it crests and ride it 20-30 yards.
