For Those Who Are Keeping Score At Home - 270 Hours Without A Cigarette
That's 11 days and 6 hours so far.

I'm experiencing no cravings whatsoever. This is just pretty damn cool.

I've now beaten my personal record for longest time without a cigarette. Actually, I shattered it because my old record was just 7 days.

I'll give another update if I can make it to 14 days. I'd like to thank everyone whose been so encouraging and supportive. Even though I don't seem to be having it that hard, I know that for a lot of people quitting is a lot of pain and anguish.

Hopefully one day, you'll be doing just as well with it as I am.

:)

35. And nonsmokers don't count the time since their last smoke
You're a badass nonsmoker now. Donating money to the tobacco lobby is a thing of your past. So quit counting the hours! Marking time is something people that are quitting smoking do. So long as you're quitting, you're vulnerable to falling off the wagon. You're not quitting, you've quit. (I know that seems like a minor semantic issue, but it's crucial distinction if you're going to maintain the proper frame of mind to stay a nonsmoker.)

Good job, man.

7. That's awesome!
Cigarettes killed my father, so I'm glad whenever I hear about a smoker successfully kicking the habit. :yourock:

9. Well done...
I went through 2 weeks of hell when I quit.
Did it cold turkey from a camel non-filter pack-a-day habit.

The first week was physical - I wanted to hit people.
The second week was psychological - you see it on TV and you want one.

Then... nothing.

It's been 13 years.

12. dang, Camel non-filter!
big ups to you. That's a hell of a cigarette to quit doing. All I had to kick were wimpy Marlboro Menthol Lights.

11. Get into regular exercise too. It helps channel all the stuff
Cigarettes were for.

I practiced freestyle hung-gar sword forms.

And I lift.

What do you like to do?

31. Something I teach my clients...
"Knife Throwing"

Yes, real honest-to-God-Gil Hibben-style-knife-throwing.

My female clients are especially impressed with the satisfaction of sinking a heavy blade one-quater inch into solid oak at 10 paces.

You'd be amazed at how good it feels... real therapy!

36. If the exercise becomes a hobby...
then it becomes one more reason to avoid inhaling poison. Starting smoking again would involve giving up what's become an important part of your life. In my experience, on the occasions I get a mild craving, I just think to myself: "if I were to have a smoke, it would seriously fuck up my marathon training."

14.  Good luck to you.
I have gone from 2 packs a day down to 10 cigs. The cravings doesn't seem to be the problem with me either...it's physical discomfort. It's making me pretty ill.

19. Good job so far!
With a family where just about everyone smokes - and where most of them have been through the trying to quit phase - I have all the respect in the world for someone who's able to quit smoking.

I guess I'm fortunate enough to never having associated smoking with being cool (when I was in 7th grade, all the other kids in my class were smokers!).

20. Good job!
I quit on Feb. 17th after 25 years... you can do it. I did cold turkey, no patch, no gum, no fake ciggies. Was doing fine until Thanksgiving when I was surrounded by smokers. It kicked off my cravings, but I'm holding off.

So that's 9 months and 10 days for me. You can do it!

34. Way to Go, think of all the $$$you'll save!!!! and be healthier!
My sister-in-law is a smoker and thinks we don't know because she doesn't let on that she smokes. The thing is that every time we get a gift from her it absolutely reeks of smoke!!! Especially the tissue paper she uses in boxes and gift bags. Too gross. Never had the nerve to ask her about it though. Keep up the good work in your quest to be a non-smoker!!
