18. Mostly huntin' and fishin' any more
However, my cousin has a winery in the northern corner of Perry. There's also the Schweizer Fest every August in Tell City. There's some good camping there, too.

My roots in Perry go way back. My family has been there since the 1840s.

16. even while I have lived thousand + miles away,
Indiana has always been my home. Though my family originally were east coast transplants, brought here by the University... this is home. Left after college to go to Dc, came back and did some graduate work at IU; left to live and work in the Detroit area... briefly checked back in to Hoosier land as I prepared to move to Northern California for advanced graduate work... and came back again - for family... and couldn't leave. Now work and mostly live in Indy - and have to admit that when I meet people who have relocated to Indy from elsewhere I almost always ask "why". While I keep coming back (the last time to stay), I don't always understand why people choose to locate here, especially if they didn't attend college here - and thus spend time getting to see past the confusion -and to the beauty and warmth of most folks living here (most folks except the most extreme, crazy, neocon responding, knee-jerk rush listening/echoing nutcases.) But the reality is those folks exist in the blue areas that I have lived as well - one just can't escape 'em.

At least in Bloomington, few republican resemble those folks. Though there is a wierd and combative handful that have access to the core of the local party that are pretty Tom Delayesque.

26. have to admit
that I never heard of the Village of Beverly Hills (so pretentious sounding that it sounds like it is trying to rival Grosse Pointe, but old money never seems to fully accept new money, so good luck to 'em.)

If I had had the chance I would have brought him to the schools within which I worked... seeing first hand how the decks are stacked against so many urban youth... where less than one in three make it from ninth grade to twelfth grade (let alone graduate)... where when one is there and tries all the smarmy questions/answers to explain the situation (must be due to x or y or z) and the responses come back so convoluted that one stops seeing knee-jerk reality, and starts seeing kids whose futures are being determined before they enter high school... the experience is enough to alter many folks mindsets.

For what its worth - I just learned that my conservative brother - is much more moderate than he lets on... just with me, it seems, he likes to do the old "battle the sister" thing (reverting back to childhood rivalry). I am quite comforted by this understanding... was starting to wonder if we had lost him to Rush - and couldn't understand how that would have happened...

10. in real time am in Bloomington - but spend most
time in Indy. Born and raised in B-ton, and just attended the most recent IU ball game tonight... so while I should start to consider Indy home... I still rather consider myself a Bloomingtonian.

Madison is a beautiful part of the state. In college of bunch of friends road-tripped down to your neck of the woods for the Regatta on the Ohio. 'Twas quite a trip for us (at the time) preppy kids - we rather stuck out... but had a great time.

14. Regatta is okay
But the Chautauqua is much better. Held in September... festival of the Arts. Great crowd...... no great drunken' parties. Just fine food and great exhibits. It takes up most of the downtown. Come sometime Love to have you

I would love to experience it sometime. B-ton has the Lotus Festival (international music) in late September. A great addition to my childhood hometown.

With free trip for two to Cancun, Berry Hill is calling my name

By MARY HANCE
Staff Writer

I love Berry Hill, with its eclectic businesses in little houses. There's everything from consignment to music to garden stores. And tomorrow, the merchants will strut their stuff with the first ever Big Berry Festival.

You'll find specials and discounts and lots of free activities such as pony rides and a moon walk for the children. If you bring canned goods for Feed America First and visit at least six of the participating Berry Hill stores, you'll be eligible to win prizes that include a trip for two to Cancun.

Since my overall posting time has become greatly limited... I ought to consider, during this brief respite with posting opportunities, doing a little padding myself.
