Old Commercials that are still on...
Watching TV, you know, something I do from time to time, and I saw the polar bear Coca-Cola commercial. Isn't it really old? I enjoy older commercials, though I was never too taken with that one upon repeated viewings.

But sometimes I'll be watching TV, dum-dee-doo, and a commercial from ten years ago or thereabouts comes on. What are some older commercials you have seen recently?

2. The Folger's Coffee Commercial ...
Its the one where the son comes home , surprising his family . First his little sister wakes up and then they make some coffee . And then the smell of the coffee wakes up the family and then blah blah the parents are surprised by their son coming home and he is like " Merry Christmas " and they hug - this commercial is so old . I think its from the late 80's or early 90's .

9. I saw that the other day too
Can't they afford to make a new commercial? I had to check to see if I was watching TV Land and it was a retro commercial flashback thing.

10. Is that still on??
Edited on Sun Nov-28-04 09:32 AM by wxmike
Wow, that was the first thing I thought of when I saw this thread, but it has been awhile since I've seen it so I wasn't sure if it was still running.

That commercial has been running since at least 1987. I have it recorded on a VCR tape from 1988.

Car dealers are notorious for not changing their ads, much at all.

In Milwaukee there's a car dealer named Ernie Von Schledorn who's using the same jingle and slogan he used in the 1960's.

13. Same here -
Cal Worthington's been using the same jingle and slogans since the 60's - " Go see Cal, Go see Cal, Go see Cal. I think he's Texas redneck transplanted in southern California.

Really, really, obnoxious commercials.

5. SNL Chia Pet
I'm watching an old rerun of SNL from 83 and they had one of those really old Chia Pet commercials on and I was thinking what are they showing the old commercials as well?

6. The old "I've been smoking pot for 20 years and nothing has...
ever happened to me" PSA pops up every few years. BTW: those two guys are having a GREAT time. High in the middle of the afternoon, watching some junk TV...sometimes simple pleasures are the best :)

12. I read an article the other day.
That Discount Tire Stores commercial, with the old lady throwing the tire through the window? Well, it just landed in the Guiness Book of World Records for "Longest-Running Commercial." It's been on the air for 35 years now, IIRC.

15. "The Rug-It Riders"
Carpet Clearance Warehouse here in Southern Colorado has been running horrible commercials featuring "The Rug-It Riders" - cowboys riding around on rolled-up carpeting.

Every once in a while they run a really old commercial that must have been done when they were at a difference address, because the bottom of the screen is blacked out with their current address and phone number superimposed over it.
