Do I eat Thanksgiving leftovers weird?
First, I have them for breakfast.

Second, I eat the meal backwards, starting with pumpkin pie, then moving to turkey and dressing and mashed potatoes and gravy and cranberry sauce, then finishing with salad.

2. I've had pumpkin pie for breakfast every day since Thanksgiving
Yum.

I only have the pie though. The rest is lunch or dinner.

6. I've been alternating between pumpkin, apple and pecan
my extended family has pie wars at holidays. Everyone thinks they make the best pie, so we end up with like three leftover pies each.

Only one of them is right about being the best, but I don't complain. Yum!

Friday, I had pecan pie, followed by just a great big plate of dressing and gravy.

Today, it's gonna be the whole nine yards just as soon as I finish my pumpkin pie.

3. I like to mix it all together
chunks of turkey, blobs of mashed taters and dressing and butternut squash doused with gravy and dotted with cranberry sauce.

There is NO wrong way to eat a leftover!

Cold between leftover rolls with some cranberry sauce added. Mmmmmm, an Atkins nightmare!

5. Works for me - if i had leftovers
I've also read somewhere (?) that European meals serve salad last.

Someone will correct me if I'm wrong.

And of course the old saying "Life's too short, eat dessert first."

:hi:

10. Glad to help. :-)
And I for one, prefer salad/veggies/fruit before and after a meal. Supposed to be good for the colon.

9. I wish I had leftovers
We went to a friend's house for TD. We brought some stuff back, but it isn't the same as picking the carcass to make a tasty sandwich. I also didn't like the gravy - tasted like it was made from a mix.

12. awwwwww, man that sucks
C'mon over. We got plenty left over.

I warn you though, this turkey (an organic, free-range bird) has way too much of whatever that chemical is that makes you sleepy. One helping and you'll need a nap.

13. Nothing better than the left-overs
I like to eat cold dressing for breakfast. If I have time to heat left-over gravy in the microwave even better. Hot gravy and cold dressing--heaven on a plate.

14. did you ever notice that there is never enough leftover gravy?
you end up with lots of dry turkey and dressing (that just keeps getting better and better for a few days), long after that luscious liquid is long gone.

Have to eat the dressing dry and make a batch of turkey-green chili enchiladas, I guess.

20. This year I had tons of left over gravy
In fact I'm going to throw it away today. I made 3 times more than I usually do. I learned that years ago. Left overs just aren't the same without the gravy.

21. that's emeril's third law of the conservation of gravy
couldn't you freeze it instead of throwing it away? Use to thicken soup or sauces later?

23. You and my friend think alike
She literally snatched it out of my hands tonight to bring home to her freezer. It's all good though-I'm sick of it already and she'll enjoy it.

There is nothing better than cold cornbread stuffing with turkey and cherry fluff.

18. It goes by lots of different names...
It's cherry pie filling mixed with cool whip, eagle brand milk, and crushed pineapple. It's soo good. Some people put pecans in it. Some people use strawberry pie filling instead of cherry. Anyway, it's soooo good.
