Boca Raton, FL.. look up..
... somebody is skywriting big letters in the sky..

"Turn to Jesus" it says...

Man, how to you get to be a skywriter? My ultimate dream is to be a pilot, and to be skywritinr would be just the coolest damn thing in the world.

I guess you have to be a pilot and then you can go to skywriting school.. and then I guess someone can pay you to write a message in the sky... as in "Will you marry me, (whoever)?"

My girlfriend and I were just having a discusion on how big the letters are. My guess is they are about half a mile from top to bottom, maybe less..

If the plane is going 120 knots.. which I don't know if he is.. then 15 seconds going downward, say for the leg of the "J".. 15 seconds would cover a half mile..

Now that I think about it, the letters may be about a third of a mile tall...thousand yards wide...(I'm guessing here)

Everybody gets to be a skywriter but me!!

:nopity:

3. Something I didn't realize before that I do now....
Edited on Sun Nov-28-04 03:54 PM by Heyo
I realize now that the letters lay flat, horizontally...

For some reason other times I've seen skywriters, it has seemed like the letters were sort of standing up, at least somewhat, which would mean a heck of a lot of almost vertical ups and downs, or really difficult altitude changes....

But now I realize the letters are pretty much flat, and he can stay at one altitude, and pretty much go forward, backward, left and right in a pattern and turn the smoke on and off to make the letters... it's just that when you look up at them from the bottom it can look like they are standing upright somewhat.

Maybe they are sloped a little bit... hard to tell.

So he must have it planned out.... "spray for 5 seconds for the top of the T.. swing around 180 degrees to the right.. then turn 90 degrees right again and spray for 10 seconds to make the bottom of the T... then swing right again in a wide 180 and come up and make the leg of the next letter..." but no "dive straight down 10 seconds..." etc...

Still, of all the jobs in the word, folks.. I seriously think I do not know of there a job I would want more than that....

If they do, they all involve flying airplanes.I am pretty sure..

Hopefully I can go in summer of 2005 like I plan and get my single engine basic license.. (5 grand  but I will scrimp and save as much as I can)

Go, skywritier, go!!!

(It's all faded by now.. :dunce:)

8. You fly planes?..
... and did some aerobatics?

:yourock:

May I trouble you to ask what path you took to get to that point?

Did you start with regular flight school? ...and how did you wind up in the situation in your life where you had the opportunity to do aerobatics in a plane?

You are my idol for the day. :loveya:
