Has anyone seen an article about Ken Mehlman today?
Randi Rhodes reported that Ken Mehlman co-chair of the RNC's assistant was busted trolling for group "bareback" (unprotected) sex on GAY.COM. :eyes:

9. You're entirely right
and you shamed me out of the brief satisfaction at seeing such hypocrites unmasked. Your admonition is well placed.

4. Mehlman is a 37 year old "bachelor".
I failed to mention that.

6. Not Mehlman, Dan Gurley
http://americablog.blogspot.com/archives/2004_11_01_americablog_archive.html#110062824222572450

Excerpt:

Yesterday the RNC found itself the subject of an intense Internet-fed guessing game as to the sexual orientation of proposed new RNC chair Ken Mehlman (Mehlman has repeatedly refused to say on the record if he's heterosexual). Today the new controversy is over a gay online profile soliciting anonymous gay bareback sex - a profile that appears to include the photo of a recently-outed top RNC staffer.

THE STORY
A Gay.com profile, appearing to to be of a senior gay Republican National Committee staffer, suddenly disappeared this morning after it was reported on blogACTIVE.com that the profile allegedly belonged to gay RNC deputy political director and national field director Dan Gurley.

Gurley had been outed as a gay man by blogACTIVE.com a few months ago, but it was only in the last 12 hours that the Gay.com profile became known. It is clear when looking at the Gay.com profile that the photos are of Gurley (when compared to another photo already known to be of Gurley), and it is also clear that the profile is intended to look like it is Gurley's profile. blogACTIVE.com and RawStory.com say they believe the profile is Gurley's. You can read their analysis on their sites.

8. Randi Rhodes whipped it into a frothy Santorum today ... she was great!
Gurley-man. GOP Gurley-man. Bare-back Gurley-man. Anyone here got the guts to call a fundy preacher and tell him (they usually don't allow women to preach or teach Sunday school) what "bare-back" means? I do. I have one singled out. A BoJo, too (Bob Joneser).

10. ya know

I remember when you considered yourself rather moderate (and not quite so the in your face fighter as other duers...)... is my memory (going back several years) wrong? Or has this bushmaladministration (with perhaps a dash of du in the mix) led to a bit of a transformation for Demo Tex?

on edit: keep in mind that I loved you as a fellow Duer back then... and I love you as a duer today... more a reflection and checking my read on things than a judgemental commentary...

11. Hmmm ... don't know how to take that criticism, Salin.
1. I have never been a moderate. But that is a relative term.

2. I stay out of all faces, DUer or otherwise.

3. No transformation. I joined this board in April 2001 with a sig line that said: "Things will be different after the revolution." I live by that motto.

4. Irony is, "Salin" is one of my most sought after posters, to read.

5. DemoTex

13. Not meant as a criticism
but a reflection - which may be as much as one on the changes in the tone of the board as a whole - as much as anything.

Back in early 2002 (I tried joining late 2001 - but screwed up the process so officially joined in the first week of 2002) there were combatants (think: Abysinthe (sp)); some conspiracy hard core-ists; and some more tempered voices... I thnk I viewed you in that vein (but reading, of course, is subjective)... thus I use moderate as more a term of in your face vs cerebral/tempered (which for the most part I consider myself - though I too, more now than before, go "off" in stronger terms than I did back in Jan 2002...

With the many more voices on DU today, I would say that the overall tone is different - and even combativeness is different today than it was then (remember the old, pre 2003/4, Nader threads)...

so perhaps this is more about projecting my own growing 'combativeness' than anything else...

please accept my appologies (and you should know that you are one I always enjoy reading, as well.) Didn't mean it as a criticism...
*would use a peace offering emoticon if there was one...*
