Secret Shopper???
Okay, is anyone involved with the secret shopper. They shop and eat at restuarants then report their observations. Is this credible?

1. I'm not involved with them, but I loathe them.
I'm not sure how they recruit people to do this stuff, but the reports they send our restaurant are absolutely hilarious.

My restaurant stopped taking this stuff seriously a long time ago; they don't even pay for the service, but the company sends out reports trying to convince them.

An old boss of mine worked for these folks and even got a free cruise out of the deal once, so it's probably a fair shake for the reviewer.

3. I was a pizza secret shopper for a couple of years
A local pizza place contracted with a company to do "secret shopping", and I was one of the shoppers.

So once a month I'd order a pizza and just track what they were looking for - did the delivery guy wear the company jacket, did the pizza arrive on time, was it hot, was it good.

The only down side was that they sometimes wanted the pizza ordered at weird times - like end of the night. So I'd end up with a pizza at 11pm.

4. I've signed up with a few agencies
I think Jancyn is the only one that's ever sent me on shops - to Taco Bueno and Hollywood Video.

I don't get much from it, but it can be fun. I fill out their form (and keep the narrative as plain as possible - "just the facts, ma'am").

5. my friend from college was one
who actually secret shopped at the store I worked in. It was great. I got a great write up and then the boss treated me like a king for a whole month.

6. I've been shopped before...I sell yamaha pianos for a living and
they let us know the time period when the secret shopper will be out. They'll ask for a used piano, and if you show them a yamaha digital piano, they give you 100 bucks.
