The mall was DEAD tonight.
I had to stop and pick up something for dinner, some coffee pods for my Senseo, and some shipping materials. Okay, so they weren't DEAD dead, but:

- No matter where I went, there were open spaces right at the front of the building.

- Tons of employees standing around, doing nothing.

- Able to walk up to an empty register no matter which shop I was in.

Business-wise, it looks like 2004 is shaping up to be the worst holiday season since ... when, the Carter years? The Great Depression?

6. drove by the local Mall on Saturday
and the parking lot which is usually brimming to the edge between t-day and Christmas - was only partially full... looked more like an average weekend. Didn't appear good for the big post Thanksgiving Day sales... unless everyone went on Friday and called it a season... can't remember it being quite so sparse...

8. I've seen far fewer 'help wanted' signs than expected. I should check to
see if the local Wal-mart removed their "Seasonal help wanted" sign.

I'm sure corporate america will figure it out that, with no middle class supporting them, they're toast too.

10. I just don't think I'll be able to go shopping because
I feel my democracy has been stollen, so unless there's a complete investigation, I think I'd rather stay home and wait until they prove to me my vote counted.

(Perhaps hitting them in their pocket book would get them motivated. There's more than one way to skin a skunk.)

11. Just watch
The poor shopping season will somehow be blamed on us "liberal" shoppers not shopping. But the point won't be raised that if the liberals not shopping is the reason, then they must be the majority.

12. I think you have it right: "LIBERALS ARE BOYCOTTING AMERICA!"
I can hear Sean Hannity now:

"We cannot let these liberal America-haters destroy our economy. If you honor our troops, if you support our president, if you love this country ... GET OUT THERE AND SHOP!"
