Does anyone else like J.J. Cale?
I bought J.J. Cale Live last nite. His guitar work is just great. I had forgotten, I guess.

Does anyone know anything about him?

1. Love Him!
Magnolia one of my all time favorite tunes! Chris Smither covers that one too.

2. j. j. cale
Has been one of my favorite songwriter/singers since the seventies. He's written songs that other performers have made hits. His unique style of playing can only be described as laid-back intensity. I saw him long time ago in San Francisco. He came out unshaven, quiet, no-jive, and his musicianship was exquisite. I've been a big fan ever since.

He has an "official" website: http://www.jjcale.com/

3. Thanks for the website. I just love his guitar.
He has played in Carnegie Hall - I saw that on the info on the CD.

He looks kind of like someone who you would call the Breeze. Someone always movin down the road.

10. Hi, Guy!
I'm still going over that stuff in my head. Thinking about changing things around. I was a lot happier then - when I spent a lot of time getting lost in the sounds.

Where did you find the little smiley guy? I like the one that kind of bounces up and down. That is so cute.

6. He has a new album out
I went to a huge music store last night and they didn't have much in the way of people like J.J. Cale. It was mostly Rap and Later style Rock and Country. I have to find a better place to look for CDs.

4. Love him
'Don't Go To Strangers' is one of my all time favorite songs. And I'm still pissed at Eric Clapton for the butcher job on 'After Midnight'.

7. I always loved Cocaine (the song) but the version of it
on this album wasn't very good. They had recorded it in Germany.

And Magnolia is really nice. I have to get more so I am more familiar with his songs.

Funny how those guys who were really good got most of their work stolen by big names who weren't nearly as good at singing it. Kind of like Laura Nyro's work.

8. Love J.J. Cale. A Tulsa, OK boy,
fantastic songwriter, great musician. Saw him at the Bottom Line and Carnegie Hall in NYC. His keyboardist introduced my husband and I 27 years ago. He's also big in Europe.

12. Actually
I prefer John Cale. Yes, he's still around. From the avant gard to the Velvets to classical, he's what a musician should be. And he don't give a damn about being popular. Gotta love it.
