3. Ah, the memories!
Tijuana Taxi and The Lonely Bull are two of my favorites.

I'm listening to Piffaro, the Renaissance Band playing Canzoni e Danze. I love Medieval and Renaissance music. Was there ever a more appealing instrument than the crummhorn?

6. All RIGHT!!!!
Good to see another tech writer. I've been writing since 1983 - both commercial and military, in the electronics, health care, computer software, and defense contracting industries.

Before that, I was a lowly electronics technician.

16. Been doing this since 1978, shortly after getting out of...
the Air Force.

I write repair manuals for test equipment for a defense company. Now that makes me somewhat of a pariah here on DU on occasion; I'm not one who can go along with the idea of totally dismantling the entire defense apparatus of this country. It would be nice if we could, but we can't and I live in the real world.

And needless to say I'm surrounded by freepazoids all eight hours of each day. In fact, right before lunch I was involved in a five-way argument with some of my cow-orkers; pardon me, co-workers. They (four of them) were talking about how one of their moms had just gone through the signup thing for the medicare discount drug card and found out how worthless it was; another talked about how much his dad's medication had jumped recently.

Well, they were crowding up my cubicle and I told them to SHUT THE F UP because I didn't wanna hear any bitching from them; you guys voted for his ass; I tried to tell you but all you could do was come back with Hitlery jokes. Kicked 'em out of my cube and they haven't come back yet.

23. I Write For a Defense Contractor, Too
Documenting satellites for the GPS system that makes On-Star possible. Since the GPS system has both military and civilian applications, I have no ethical problem working here. Besides the pay and benefits are good.

I'm surrounded by right-wing imbeciles, but they'll get their due when their sons, daughters, nieces, and nephews start getting drafted. And I'll just say "I told you so..."

29. I have wondered how one could get into tech writing:
specifically my expertise would be in health insurance, medical terminology (breaking the techno terms out into plain english) and so on.

Any suggestions?

31. I Lucked Into It
I worked as a technician for ten years when the company I worked for (Exxon Office Systems) shut the plant in Florham park NJ and laid me off in the middle of Reagan's first recession. (Yes, there were several.)

After three months of no job offers, I saw an ad in the Newark Star-Ledger for technical writers - "no experience needed - we'll train the right individual". I went and applied, and was hired a few days later. Back then, all the writing and editing was done by pencil - I didn't start using a PC until I moved on to another company the following year.

If you're interested in getting in to tech writing, check to see if there's a chapter of the STC (Society for Technical Communication) in your area. The folks there are always anxious to help newcomers. Especially when someone has a specialty, as you do with health and medicine.

Good luck.

37. now now...
...you got me curious, so I did look him up:
Lou is 80% deaf since he was three years old.

And...I doubt Ludwig did a lot of singing after he lost his hearing.

I do like the idea of Lou Ferrigno as a lovely tenor, though!

I have no music on right now. The noon news will be serenading me in about twenty minutes. ;)

As an aside, I once met Herb Alpert. He was shorter and more slender than he appeared in photos. He was very personable, though, and I enjoyed meeting him.

43. Scala "Schrei nach Liebe"
http://www.viva.tv/index.php?action=webclips_play_stream&id=11234&type=rlp_dsl

You're really stupid, that's why you're feeling good

Hate is your attitude, your blood boils constantly
Everything has to be explained to you, because you don't know anything.
Probably not even what attitude means.

Your violence is a silent cry for love.
Your Nazi boots are longing for a caress.
You've never learned to articulate.
And your parents never had time for you.

Asshole!

Why are you afraid of petting, what is this nonsense about?
Under the laurel wreath beats your heart, I know,
and romance isn't merely theory for you,
between Störkraft and the Onkelz, there is a Pop-LP.

Your violence is a silent cry for love.
Your Nazi boots are longing for a caress.
You've never learned to articulate.
And your parents never had time for you.

Asshole!

Because your problems interest nobody,
because you have fear of cuddling, you're a fascist.
You have to project your self-hate,
so that nobody realizes what a nice guy you are.

Your violence is a silent cry for love.
Your Nazi boots are longing for a caress.
You've never learned artitoculate.
And your girlfriend never has time for you.

Asshole!Asshole!Asshole!
