I've decided to become a bushbot! Sorry!
I know this will come as a shock to most, but yeah. I'm serious.

I've decided it is just easier.

I've been thinking about the phrase "embrace the full horror of the nightmare that is bush" and I realized I really haven't fully embraced it.

The main advantages are:

1. I no longer have to care about anything but tax cuts. I no longer have to care about anyone but myself and my family. Poor people? Who gives a shit? Children with no health insurance? Fuck 'em. I got mine.

2. Once my family and friends have realized and accepted that I am a bushbot, they will no longer expect me to understand much. Or even know much. I can get away with saying things like "Oh yeah, if there's global warming, why's it so COLD, Mister Smartypants?" and "You're just a fucking traitor" everytime anyone disagrees with me. I can even get away with threats of physical violence towards people, as long as they are liberal. Or just weird, in my opinion.

3. I will get carte blanche to judge people. A lot. Like that Christian guy told me who was poll greeting for a republican on Election Day, the book in the Bible called Judges not only gives us permission to judge, but DEMANDS it. So now I get to make fun of whoever I want, look down my nose at people (especially people lower on the socio-economic scale than I am) and sneer at other people's beliefs openly. I can be as hateful as I want, because all I have to do is use projection and accuse them of doing all the things I am doing.

4. I now get to remind people, all the time and in a rather chest-beating way, how moral I am, how upstanding, how honest, how CONCERNED I am for.....the....children and all the demonic influences our society puts on them.

5. I also get to remind people about September 11th. A lot.

Now that I've said all that, I realize as a true bushbot, I cannot have this kind of metacognitive awareness of what it is I do, so I am being picked up shortly for a 1:30 appointment at the Dallas County Republican Party offices, jokingly called, by other bushbots, the "Reeducation Center." They are funny!

You all are pretty great. But take it from me---it's easier to simply embrace the horror. Let go. You'll feel so much better. I already do, just from the not having to care about anyone part!

7. Well see, that's another thing.
Once I am overeducated, I am going to have to make up for it somehow, in order not to be labeled an intellectual elitist, so I have to become anti-intellectual the moment I have that degree in my hand.

36. Oh, if anti-intellectualism is what you want
then skip the M.Ed. or whatever kind of Masters you'll be getting, and go for a good and useless M.F.A. like I did!

Despite your deep understanding of contemporary theories and your box-breaking field-challenging ideas, the very nature of the MFA will guarantee that you'll be rejected by the academic community both during and after your studies. Come on, sounds so tempting....

4. Hmmm
Damn, I forgot about the fear part.

Maybe it's not all skipping through the daisies to be a bushbot, because you're right, I also have to be horribly fearful all the time.

BUT I get to display it through acts of hostility, rage, and general pissiness. That's a plus!

Thanks for reminding me of that part!

8. Those are beautiful words, deutsey
They made me tear up a little. Yes, it's true. The struggle is finished. I have decided to love, nay to embrace Big Brother. He IS my Big Brother.

I have copied those words down and will carry them in my heart. No more struggle.

19. I'm afraid that I could not qualify to be a bushbot
My mother instilled in me a huge conscience. It would not let me be a hate monger. I doubt any re-education camp could change my psychic make-up. After all the re-conditioning attempts I'd be rejected as a hopeless bleeding heart liberal. Poor me.

God I can't wait. They told me over the phone I'd have to learn about NASCAR, too. Apparently they send out codes to the bushbots through the car numbers. I think I can do that.

40. You will need this info then
What is a Lobotomy Anyway?

There are nerves that connect the frontal lobes to the rest of the brain. The idea behind psychosurgery, later proven to be invalid, was that these nerves were somehow malformed or damaged, and if they were severed they might regenerate into new, healthy connections. Contrary to popular conception, the operation was not used only on psychiatric patients. Many people were lobotomized for “intractable pain”, such as chronic, severe backaches or agonizing headaches.
