Groomsman rant!!1
My best friend got married last month and my sophomore roommate is getting married on the 18th. Tux rental fees are starting to cost more than my college loan payments!!!!

I've caught the garter 3 times in a row now. I'm doooooooooooooooomed.

1. Know anyone in the College Music department?
many musicians own their own tux. See if you can borrow one, all you have to pay is dry cleaning.

2. i've got my own from symphony days
but every wedding wants weird tuxes. It's always tails, regular white dress collar, or something unclassy...
My straightforward Bond look works great for the opera though!

6. OMG! They're having the groomsmen wear tails?
Though nothing can be as tacky as either a) the pastel tuxes popular in the 70s and 80s; and b) the tuxes I saw a few months ago when I bought mine that had CAMO vests.

What kind of useless asshole requires a camo vest for wedding tuxes? Talk about tacky and insipid.

I don't even know why people go into all this "Make my friends go rent some shit and waste their money" crap anyway. I say, have your friends wear their tuxes, whatever they have (unless a fucking camo one), or their best suits. And let the bridesmaids wear their best dresses.

Brides who demand their bridesmaids where unwearable-again, expensive dresses are self-centered diva bitches and are to be avoided at all costs.

3. No pity here...

:nopity:...I've been a bridesmaid many times. The dresses are ALWAYS beyond ugly and expensive.

The last wedding I was a maid-of honor...I put my foot down, I was 38 years old and it was for my baby sister's wedding (she's 14 years younger than me). I could not wear the same dress as the other bridesmaids...so I altered it.

So you had to rent a tux...it's a lot cheaper, fits better and is not a constant reminder in your closet that peach chiffon DOES NOT look good on everyone.

Cheers,
Kim :toast:

5. Try being a Bridesmaid!
Not only do you buy a rediculously expensive dress - BUT - you have to buy a gift and give a shower and give a gift at the wedding. Not to mention accessories - shoes - gloves - hats - hair - makeup - nails etc etc.

You spend thousands of dollars and what do you get in return - a BUTT UGLY $500.00 dress and a stupid ass gift like a bracelet.

I was Maid of Honor the last time I was in someone elses wedding - and I swore that was it for me. Maid of Honor is NO honor - it just means more money!!!

This is one of the reasons Hubby and I eloped. I had had more than my share of Weddings by the time I got married at 32.

Wedding are one of the biggest scams in the whole world.

Sorry - NO sympathy here - I spent thousands of dollars on weddings and got NOTHING in return from the same people when I got married.

BTW - to all my friends who's weddings I was in or attended and who didn't send even so much as a card when I got married:

YOU ALL SUCK!!!!!!!!!!!!!
