My office holiday party is a "No Spouse Zone"
Edited on Tue Nov-30-04 05:32 PM by dr.strangelove
We all think it is so the male bosses can get drunk and hit on the young female staffers, but they say it is money.

I wish my wife could go and meet some of my co-workers. We always talk of setting up an after work function, but we are not really that close, and don't have the time.

11. offer it up as a suggestion - tell them you would like to bring your
wife and pay for her - and that it would probably be nice to make that offer to others who might want to bring their spouse

christmas parties are much better with the spouse - and not on your own with others drinking - experience

7. Not fair
This is a law firm where there are two distinct classes. The lawyers who do very well, and the staff who are grossly underpaid. The party probably cost $150-$200 per person. While I can eat that cost, it is probably 1/2 a weeks pay for a clerk. I don't think it is fair to offer to have anyone pay in this situation.

2. Well, I've got the opposite problem,
my company holiday party is a huge, fancy affair in the ballroom of a downtown Cleveland hotel, and best of all it's free. We can each bring one guest who'll be free as well, the only problem is I ain't got a date!!!! I know I'm not the only one in the office in that situation, but it's still a little aggravating.

but it really was because of money.

If the party ends fairly early(or starts late) maybe some people could meet after(or before) with spouses

5. Mine's a "No booze zone"
They have it on site, so no alcohol allowed. Then they wonder why no one wants to hang out for very long.

9. Our has the booze a flowin'
We all get VERY drunk. Lots of drinks, shots and chasers. The old men get loaded and the rest of us try not to do anything too stupid.

6. We tried to hold our own party one year...
...and ended up in the middle of Operation Infinite Damage. The brass freaked out.

Of course, if they had told us in advance when the party was, we might not have scheduled the alterna-party on the same night...
