Most of the Dead and J. A. were on the first David Crosby album
...and for my money, "Laughing" is the DEFINING MOMENT of his entire CAREER. He NEVER surpassed that moment, and it is SUBLIME.

ROLL CALL for "If I Could Only Remember My Name"...

Graham Nash, Neil Young, Phil Lesh, Bill Kreutzmann, David Frieberg, Mickey Hart, Paul Kantner, Michael Shrieve, Jerry Garcia, Jack Cassidy, Jorma Kaukonen, Grace Slick, Greg Rolie, Joni Mitchell.

They DO NOT make albums like this anymore. Want to understand the "CSNY Hype?" He WAS NOT a bloated, drug-addicted LOSER when he recorded this. He was at the TOP OF HIS GAME:

1. Excellent album . . . of course the title would make you think
he was a bloated drug-addicted loser :)

But that's beside the point. There was some very interesting musical stuff going on on that LP :).

David is not a bloated, drug addicted loser any more (if that mean characterization was EVER apt). The last album he did with Graham Nash was excellent.

6. Even as bloated, etc., etc.,
he could ALWAYS sing. Somehow his pipes have not been affected by the excesses of his life.
