Okay, DUers, let's see those tattoos!
Who's got 'em? Small ones, large ones, scary ones. Ones you can't see unless you're a very close, personal, intimate friend. Post pics if you got 'em. If you think tats are stupid, flame away. No, I don't have any...yet.

2. No tattoos, but plenty of scars
in places only intimate friends have seen. I'm indifferent to tattoos. I've seen them look fantastic and I've seen them look hideous. Depends on the artist I guess.

this pic has been up on DU before, people are going to think I am vain! (I am about my tat, I love it)

If the waistband were about half an inch lower, you could see the whole tattoo, it's body is just a bit longer- dragonfly, not butterfly.

This is in memory of my Grandmother, who passed away 12/20/03.

original design, no flash. My g-ma was a poet and a liberal, my only political 'friend' in a family full of Repubs. This election was really hard to go thru without her. she would have been outraged right along with me. she was only 67 and passed way before her time. I think her dr. fucked up, but no one is willing to persue that avenue with me.

My strongest political memory of her was during the Clarence Thomas hearings. She would scream at the tv and pace and rant about it, it was awesome. I miss her a lot.

A friend of mine has a tattoo of Tattoo, and one of a Waffle House sign. The Tattoo tattoo is on his leg, which is very hairy. He used to shave it to give Tattoo moustaches and beards.

He is an idiot.

39. hm. interesting. I found myself addicted after the first.
I have two now, and the next 3 are getting planned out. I like milestone tats, or commemorative ones.

1. my 'independence tat' done when I moved away from family in a blaze of glory to be by myself.

2. memorial dragonfly tat for my g-ma

future:
3. after having a baby, one on the back of my neck of mother holding baby, tribal style-ish

4. ten year anniversary tat, probably on my foot- style similar to traditional henna wedding tattoos.

5. add to dragonfly when my g-pa passes, hopfully not for another 25+ yrs! (he's only 68 and healthy now)

To each his own! thanks for sharing. :-)

63. I have a red heart with
my wife's name on a scroll, and a diamond shaped pattern surrounding the heart with my kids names forming the diamond....It's on my left upper arm, only visible if I'm at the beach or pool etc...shirt sleeves cover it otherwise. Love my Tat!

64. I don't have one, but I'm getting one soon!
I've already done the design, found the artist I'm going to have do it, and gotten pointers from him on how to make the design better. Now, I just have to do it!

74. I have three tats...
I have an indian mandela on my left arm. A very sexy, voluptous faerie on my right thigh. And I don't know what to call what I have on my ankle...it is the symbol of Om with a vine of flowers (I designed it). All are full color. Don't have pics yet, though
I love tattoos. I love the rush. I think it is funny when I go into our local tattoo parlor and I watch other people squirm then they can't figure out how I don't even flinch...being tattooed is so euphoric...its my only legal drug of choice (seriously, when I get a tattoo, I might as well be stoned...i'm very giggly and flyin high)

76. Damn- all I have are dog pictures!
About 6 years ago my husband, who is pretty heavily tattooed, got me a $100 gift cert for a tattoo. He figured I would choose a butterfly, rose, or similar flash piece. I chuckle at his shock when I told him my plans for a 3/4 sleeve... the $100 was a small down payment.

Right arm- 3/4 sleeve of a jellyfish with Japanese waves crashing
Left sleeve- bright antique christmas ornaments over black japanese windbars (still working on this one)

Neck- tibetan skull

Will take some pictures for y'all!

Here are some of hubby's tattoos...

84. Pics?
I'm very curious to see the ones you did on yourself, I wondered if that was done much by artists.

87. one of these days I'll figure out how to put pics on the web
they were my first ever tats--I had to practice and didn't want to possibly screw up bigtime on any friends. They're small, not big impressive work. But I like 'em. :D

I have some pics of some of the work I did at the shop, (wish I had more), but don't have a scanner. Well, if I get around to figuring out how to use my digital camera, I'll try photographing the photos.

I think alot of artists do that to start with for the same reason I did.

81. I have 4
And after seeing that Anil Gupta page...i think this will be my fifth.. (smaller though...)

That is amazing...how it looks like the skin is lifted where the chain is under the skin!

Anyways...my 4 are as follows...

the chinese symbol for peace on the back of my neck

(not my tat, but a picture of the symbol)

a nautical star on the underside of my wrist

A cluster of stars on my left shoulder

A fairy on my left hip

Sorry no pics...my digital camera is fucked up at the moment.

89. I am getting one soon
on the small of my back.

Three letters, the first letters of the names of me, my husband and our child. There's a symmetry to it, because two of us have the same first initial, so it will look nice. It's not going to be very big.

We're an extremely close family, husband and I have been together 15 years and even IF something happens to us, I'll never regret having loved him and I love the symbolism of our three initials linked together.

Just can't decide what kind of lettering.
