My kitten weighs seven and a half pounds
The woman we got her from told me she was born on June 24. So basically we're dealing with a five-month-old full-grown cat.

2. I agree. But people see my 16 pounder and can't believe it
she's just a big cat. I've seen lots of bigger cats. Your kitten has a ways to grow. They grow up until a year.

The brown tabby (Hormel) weighs 6 lbs This kitten weighs 7.5 lbs The tuxedo cat, the gray tabby (Cindy) and one solid black cat (Nina) all weigh 8 lbs Our oldest solid black cat (Whoopi) weighs 9 lbs Our orange tom (Kenny) weighs 12.5 lbs And our youngest solid black cat (Sophia) weighs 14 lbs IOW, the kitten is right in the range of our full-grown cats.

I got Pad Thai when he was 5 months old. He had a lot of growing up to do after that. I think he was about 8 or 9 pound then, he was 13 pounds grown up.

5. Rule of thumb is one pound per month up to 6 months
So if the birthdate is correct, your kitten is huge. No worries, big cats are the best! (from the owner of a 17-pounder)

6. Your kitten is still a baby...
They grow for about 18 months. She could get up to 12 lbs. On the other hand, I got a kitten at 6 months who weighed in at almost 6 lbs, and stoped at 8.

8. My 16 1/2 yr old weighs in at a whopping 6 1/2 pounds
She's lost a bit due to a thyroid condition, but at her heaviest she was at most 9 pounds.
