Need advice re: Sirius
do you/did you ever have Sirius sattelite radio? Wondering if it's worth the exhorbitant price to have access to AAR and Thom & Eddie w/o internet. You'd think in Chicago we could get these on AM, but no dice. I also think they have an NHL channel which would be useful to me if there is an NHL again at some point.

Anyway - like it? dislike it? I would probably want a modular rig for my car & study.

1. I know nothing of satellite radio but was compelled
to sigh over the absence of hockey.

*sigh*

2. I think it is worth it
because broadcast radio here sucks. Choice of right wing talking heads or country music.

AAR and Sirius Talk Left are both great. I enjoy the comedy stations and of course the music choices are fantastic. Something for everyone/every mood.

You can use the same receiver in the car and indoors with different kits. Shop around, new ones are released now and then.

Good luck.

3. I couldn't live without my XM.
I don't really think it's all that spendy, once you've bought the hardware.

4. SIRIUS ROCKS!
I got Sirius this summer. I have not turned on FM or AM radio more than once and that was to get a traffic report in the middle of rush hour. I love the array of channels (7-8 Jazz alone) plus rock, blues, etc. On the music channels, there are NO commercials.

I picked SIRIUS because the Best Buy guy said it was the best. I got the benefit of knowing that XM is partially owned by Clear Channel Communication, friend of * and co.

Rock on!

5. Sirius ROCKS!
I absolutely love it - indoors can be a problem w/signal (have to keep adjusting..).

Wait 'till after Christmas - the prices will drop.

6. LOVE IT
And it's not that expensive....you can work deals out there that only set you back $75-100 for the receiver, and it's easy to install yourself.

The monthly price is only $10 or so a month, cheaper if you prepay...

Having AAR and JamOn is worth it...as well as the 70's Station (which features Greg Brady as a DJ)

The only problem is it goes out every time you drive under a bridge..

7. We *love* our Sirius!
We can play it in the car or in the house, or even take it on vacation with us. We had a 10 hour car trip to Ohio a few months ago and it was SOOOO worth it, just for that trip alone.

Have you been to www.sirius.com to see all the stations you'll get?

BTW, don't get XM radio--Clear Channel owns a part of it and I loathe Clear Channel.
