"Do They Know It's Christmas?" Redux... has anyone heard it?
I was watching some lame top-20 countdown on VH1, and the VJ was explaining that the new version of "Do They Know Its Christmas?" is so completely awful and wretched that listeners are calling the British radio stations and begging them to yank it off the air.

I've just got to hear this with my own ears... has anyone?

2. Well, Bono's back, and Bob Geldof is looking scary.
British Stars Gather for Band Aid Remake

Some of Britain's biggest pop stars gathered Sunday to record a new version of the hugely successful 1984 fund-raising hit "Do They Know It's Christmas?" being rereleased this year to benefit victims of violence in Sudan.

Coldplay's Chris Martin, Jamelia, Ms. Dynamite, Will Young and members of the bands Busted, the Darkness and Sugababes were all part of the project, called Band Aid 20.

Paul McCartney, U2's Bono, Dido and Robbie Williams also participated in the new version, making their contributions ahead of time.

"It sounds gaudy, but I guess there is a legacy," said Bob Geldof, who wrote "Do They Know It's Christmas?" in 1984 with Midge Ure, for a superstar group they called Band Aid.

Does Bob Geldof know it's Christmas?

3. Why did they have to screw with what's been done already?
I mean, how can I listen to the new version if Bananarama isn't on it :P

No, I haven't heard it.

I'm sure it's available on a 20 mix CD single: The Todd Terry Thump The World Club Mix, Farina's Fabulous Feeding Frenzy Dub Mix, Oakenfold's World Feast Main Mix, BT's Thank God It's Them and Not You Retro-Electro Landslide Mix...

They should have just made a new song altogether.

8. Trivia time.
Kool and the Gang were the only American act on DTKIC.

9. Does money from the new song go to charity?
If so, people need to shut the fuck up. At least that's the way I see it. I mean, I don't care if it's a steaming cat turd, if it generates money for charity, DEAL!!!

12. Yes.
But if it's too wretched for people to buy, will it make much money for charity?

Maybe a whole raft of new fans who weren't there the first time around will buy it.

I haven't heard it, though, so I can't judge its musical merits.

11. I have not heard it. I absolutely love the original.
I'd hate it if they "ruined" it.
