I was 11 when "I'm Just A Girl" hit it big. In my music class I was forced to listen to this song over and over and over because we got to bring in CDs and the teacher would play them. I would bring in Hendrix and every girl in the damn class would play that shit. Started a lifelong hatred. So I've been a hater for 10 years.

Love her personality, usually dig her music, think she is drop dead gorgeous and a pro photographer's dream... but I think L.A.M.B. is crap.

But the latest stuff she's released is kind of annoying. Maybe I appreciated her older music because I was overseas, and it was the only American music that was popular at the time. I dunno!

But, the solo album thing turned me off. I always respected that she was part and parcel of A BAND! I know she wrote most the lyrics and all, but being an integral member of a ensemble, even though she was the "face" was part of what i found attractive.

Now, she is just another diva. I'm quite disappointed.

She - and her band - wallow in mediocrity. A totally undistinctive sound.

And I have seen them/her in concert. They opened for the Stones in Toronto in the Skydome. She was doing this I-Dream-of-Jeannie thing with her hair that Madonna had already beaten to death. After an hour and a half set - that's the most I remember of her performance - her hair. Oh, and she kept going on and on and on about what a hard job it was opening for the Stones while her band jazz-noodled in the background. A major "WTF?" moment.

Having said that - if you love her and get something out of it - good for you. I'm not going to begrudge whatever pleasure you get from her.

"Don't Speak" (even after hearing it a few hundred times) and "Simple Kind of Life" and that's about all I care for by her, music-wise.

First, she wouldn't have me, and second, I'd be afraid of what I might catch.

She plays one of the glamourous movie stars that Howard Hughes dated; sorry, but I forget which one. She looks the part, but I don't know how her acting is--but being a Scorcese movie, she wouldn't be there if she couldn't do it.

But I don't like their newer stuff like "Rock Steady", and I especially don't like Gwen's solo album. I think it's horrible and sounds like Madonna.
