'Ballad Of Jed Clampett' Singer Dies

LOS ANGELES -- The man who sang the song that opened each episode of "The Beverly Hillbillies" has died.

Jerry Scoggins was 93.

Scoggins sang the lyrics to "The Ballad of Jed Clampett" while bluegrass musicians Lester Flatt and Earl Scruggs played guitar and banjo.
