Poll question: Best TV show ever?
Edited on Fri Dec-10-04 11:58 AM by BullGooseLoony
My first poll since I got my star back. It's a classic. :)

Thanks again to whoever gave my star back to me...this one's for YOU!

Best TV show ever (fictional/scripted)?

Leaving a couple slots open for your suggestions...

Remember the Nairobi Trio?

Even though you knew exactly what was going to happen, you laughed yourself silly anyway.

But you may not find it on Amazon - they've got some "Greatest Hits" compilation instead.

22. I agree
Great pick! If only Freaks and Geeks could have lasted more than a season... I think it would have stayed great for several years. It's definitely my favorite show ever.

Of the choices listed in the poll, I gave a nod to Seinfeld.

23. I only discovered the show last month.
It's on DVD and I go to the video store to rent a movie and everything I want is rented out. I rent "Freaks and Geeks" as a last resort and it turns out to be the best thing I'd seen in years.

26. I discovered it late as well
I never watched it when it was new, but discovered it after I started watching it out of curiosity during the year after it had ended and was being shown on (of all places) the Fox Family Channel. I got into the habit of regularly watching and taping the reruns of it and bought the DVD set when it came out a few months ago.

I would take Bartlett over Bush anyday. Every Wednesday it showed a Whitehouse with principles that could get things done and was my only refuge from the last four years of the Bush Administration.

38. "Homicide" gets my vote as well
A tough choice: Simpsons/Buffy/Homicide

But Homicide inspired many long discussions between SO and I about Life, Social Issues, Morality, etc., which is the highest thing art can aspire to -- it sometimes changed the way we viewed the world.

Apropos nothing: Homicide was one of TV's few "black shows" - what other highly rated drama, (even now) has had a mostly-black cast? Not tokens, but most of the key players?

36. i'd stay home on a saturday night to watch: x files, west wing, miami vice
each in their first couple of years when the writing was best, the stories great, and the shows' pretentions were absent.

x-files for plain old good writing and spookiness (and scully ;) )

west wing to provoke thought

miami vice......why of course, sex, drugs and rock n' roll. :smoke:

42. Much too hard a question
of the shows in your list, I chose Law And Order.

But I think The Carol Burnett Show was the best comedy series. Other people have mentioned good choices too - The Twilight Zone was excellent. I only vaguely remember The Days And Nights Of Molly Dodd, though as soon as I read that, I thought, 'yeah, that was really good.'
(Blair Brown IIRC)

Congratulations on getting your star back.
