Favorite Christmas songs by popular artists...
Everyone talking Christmas songs...

But what's your favorite version of a Christmas song...or original Christmas song... by a popular singer...

I go with "so this is Christmas" by Lennon for original song.

Though I always look forward to Burl Ives singing "Rudolf" every year...

Here a curious link for you to get started...

1. Sting's "The Angel Gabriel" or whatever.
It's very classical sounding, I dig it.

6. River - Joni Mitchell
Edited on Fri Dec-10-04 10:53 PM by Kenneth ken
"It's coming on Christmas
They're cutting down trees
and singing songs of joy and peace"

I wish I had a river I could skate away on - my favorite line in that tune.

I also like Pretender's 2000 miles

and Happy Christmas/War Is Over by Lennon

:hi:

the only caroling song I like is the Fa La La one, and that's the only lyric for it that I know, so I can't tell you what it really is called.

13. Get the album "3 Ships" by Jon Anderson
It's been my standard Christmas music for several years now. It's from 1985, and about half the songs are originals. Of the originals, I like "Save All Your Love" and "Easier Said Than Done" the best. The best standards are his versions of "Ding Dong Merrily on High" and the title track. This record gets me in the spirit when nothing else will.

It's totally out of print in the US, but maybe you can find an import or download it from somewhere...
