13. Have you ever thought you were buying all "non-blinking" and one blinks
Edited on Sun Dec-12-04 11:10 PM by KoKo01
and you can't turn it off? Or thought you bought all blinking and got home and the "thingy" that makes them "blink" doesn't work....

ARGHHHHHHHHHHHHH! Those lights can drive you crazy with the blinking and the non-blinking and those inbetween when you've spent a morning or afternoon out in the cold trying to get them all set up and when you turn them on....it's all screwed up!

It's the worst when you are mixing old sets with the new ones...it can be a mess!

20. lolol
the white light with the little red tip makes them blink. I always keep spares. You have to have it in the first light socket of the set for it to work.

21. Ah...you've saved me...I never knew what to do with the red tipped one
because wherever I put it, it didn't work. First light of of the socket of the set to make it work...got it...!

22. you're welcome :)
now remember...keep spares 'cause when it burns out your lights won't blink again until you get a working blinky bulb in there.

9. I agree.......
but lately the folks are getting a wee bit wacky with all of the inflated characters and mega lighting of everything in the yard. I am working on a photo essay I will post later this week on exactly what I mean. I am a photographer who likes to take night photos, so I have always had an interest in Christmas Displays, but I feel it is going way overboard lately. I get depressed when that is what Christmas is for folks. More on this later, but here is an example.

11. The best is the FUN of it! Love those folks who have the "Santa's/
Reindeer/and whatever all over their yard with colored lights wrapped around the trees and flashing everywhere. It's not what I do, but I love to ride around and see it.

A house in our neighborhood has an "inflatable Santa" on their roof which keeps "deflating." They built a platform to hold it outside their attic window. They keep inflating it and then when we ride by it deflates sort of a "crumpled Santa." We laugh about it but admire their persistance..

But I love it all and those who try to do it for their kids and neighborhood kids to enjoy! It's great!

I switch from year to year with my "inside tree" from colored lights to white. Sometimes I've even mixed them...not being able to make up my mind or the mood I was in... I missed buying the "bubble lights" when they came out again a couple of years ago...Remember them from when I was a kid and they caused some fires on trees...but they were neat!

23. I like them when they aren't overdone
I don't like those that come in a net and people don't know how to put them on their bushes. They look like big band-aids that light up. What's the point?

26. The house of blue lights...
My wife got me three boxes of those little blue lights. I'll have no reds and I'll have no whites. That's right. I hope my message reaches someone, even sub-consciously. We have got to shine our light and be of good cheer!:toast:

27. Mup Lights. I love Xmas lights, especially Mup Lights.
In my family, we call the old-fashioned Xmas lights, the big ones, "Mup Lights." When my eldest nephew was very young, learning to talk, one night in December my sister took him out for a walk to see the Xmas lights. Lots of people were still putting their lights up. She'd say to him, "See, Chris? They're putting 'em up. They're putting 'em up." He said "Puh mup" and began to call them Mup Lights.

Mup Lights!

there are all kinds of elitist towns in the greater boston area that have passed ordinances that people can only decorate their houses with white lights, or lights of one color. what utter fascists; whatever happened to freedom of expression :D
