How do you prevent static cling in the dryer?
I tried those Bounce sheets, but they leave my clothes feeling filmy. What to do?

2. I use fabric softener.
My washing machine has a dispenser for fabric softener, but if yours doesn't just mix it with a little water and pour it in when the water is filling for the rinse cycle.

4. Dryer Sheets
I have a friend who uses a wash cloth soaked with hydrogen peroxcide in the dryer as well as (but not at the same time) a small square of aluminum foil to reduce the static cling. I dont think it works as well as the dryer sheets, but she is allergic to most dryer sheets that are sold in stores. Don't ask me how they work. LOL. It sounds bizarre, but I know she uses these two things. I hope this helps! If it doesnt work I will call Kim and ask her what she is using now.

5. add a wet cat to the dryer
Eh, no really, just add the liquid softener during the spin cycle of your washer and also add a couple dryer sheets to the dryer cycle. You should be static free and smellin' like a baby's bottom by then.

9. I put a half of a sheet in the dryer
because if too much fabric softener gets in towels, they won't dry stuff very good.
A half of a sheet will take out the static but not keep your towels from drying stuff off. Cheaper to use a half a sheet too.

14. You want fluffy, absorbent towels? Skip the dryer sheets altogether!
If you've got good towels and want to keep them good anyway.

Fabric softeners by their nature, and this includes dryer sheets, leave a film on fibers; this reduces their absorbency. Static cling isn't any kind of problem with towels, anyway. :)

8. Air dry!
Dryer sheets are pretty toxic anyway. Air drying is much better for the environment in a few ways, and your clothes last longer!!! (what do you think all the stuff in the filter is?)

11. Amen! What has happened to environmentalism? And drier sheets are...
flammable. You could go up in flames. That would ruin your day.

10. Squeeze the clingy objects briefly in your hand
Just grab whatever is clinging to whatever else with both hands and press them together in a ball for a moment. This will neutralize the charges attracting them to one another. Problem solved.

I never use those dryer sheets or fabric softener. I don't like the film they leave behind.

I pour white vinegar in the rinse cycle when I wash white sheets, towels, dishtowels, and other things that need to be squeaky clean and smell-free.

13. lack of moisture causes static -- use a mister on your clothes
Edited on Mon Dec-13-04 12:23 AM by bettyellen
and pantyhosed legs if that's the problem... don't overdry the clothes. in the winter when the heat makes the air really dry it gets bad. when i have the clingy dress problem at work i go to the ladies room, and just run my damp hands up to my thighs and ass. it sounds porno, but it works!
