Hawker's NFL Power Ratings (week 3)

Here we go again!
The rules are simple: a team gets one point for each one, and one point for each win a team they beat gets.

And, leading off with 6 points each...

Because I think people missed it since I posted it late west coast time.
And I hope people won't ignore it hoping it will go away, as I intend to post this until the end of the season.

They are 3-0 and have scored 30+ in the first three games and haven't allowed 20 points. That Defense is scary, plus the speed of the linebackers is amazing. Nevermind, I got confused by the rules, I understand now. But I think the Broncos to this point is either the best or the second best team in the NFL right now.

are down points because of missing one game (bye week). That, and that one of thier games was against the wimp Chargers, while the 3 teams with 6 points faced better opponents. They'll probably catch up as the season goes on.

I was about to say the Cardinals should have 5 points because Detriot has 1 win and the Seahawks have 3 wins but then I realized it is only wins of teams you beat. Plus the Broncos haven't had a bye week yet,

Despite the record, the Chargers are a very talented team, I wouldn't necessarily call them "wimp". Plus it is very tough to beat ANY team 37-13 in the NFL.

I had them confused with undefeated Jacksonville, who are 2-0 and only have 4 points because of it. I expect Denver to move up in the rankings as the season moves on, they look good.
And I keep hoping that St. Louis will do the same. (sigh)

Not according to the rules....but I'm just doing wishful thinking.

I know they were humiliated by Baltimore, and I know their offense has struggled.

But in 3 games, they have played 2 teams that made the playoffs last year...and neither of those teams scored a single touchdown against the Browns defense.

That's GOTTA be worth an extra point.

Teams with 'tough' schedules will rack up points as the opponents they beat get thier own wins. IF my theory is correct, the teams with the highest 'power ratings' will be the best records and best playoff hopes.
If not, then next year I'll come up with a better system...

These early year rankings are distorted, since teams with losing streaks could easily get their act together and rally, and teams doing well right now could fall apart. By mid season, I expect the list to shake out pretty well.
