Can aesthetics reveal anything about the infinite?

Whenever I listen to a great piece of music, appreciate a great painting, see a powerful film, or read an eloquent passage, I sometimes seem to be transported to a realm of existence where the perception of self and other seem to dissolve into some grand totality.

These moments are so beautiful that though I am wholly agnostic, in such moments of reverie I tend to think that this sensitivity to beauty is a self sufficient proof of what one may call God and the everlasting infinite.

Does anyone else ever feel that art may provide a conduit for the experiencing of a higher being? Or am I just out there at the moment? I swear I'm not on any drugs at the moment :)
