What is the story behind everybody's user name?
I joined DU after the election and I was so pissed off, that RagingInMiami was the first thing that popped in my head because it described my mood perfectly at the time.

5. Estimated Prophet is a song by the Grateful Dead
I've been using it as my net identity for several years.

My time coming, any day, don't worry bout me, no
Been so long I felt this way, ain't in no hurry, no
Rainbows end down that highway where ocean breezes blow
My time coming, voices saying, they tell me where to go

Don't worry bout me, no no, don't worry bout me, no
And I'm in no hurry, no no no, I know where to go.

California, preaching on the burning shore
California, I'll be knocking on the golden door
Like an angel, standing in a shaft of light
Rising up to paradise, I know I'm gonna shine

My time coming, anyday, don't worry bout me, no
It's gonna be just like they say, them voices tell me so
Seems so long I felt this way and time sure passin' slow
Still I know I lead the way, they tell me where I go

Don't worry bout me, no no, don't worry bout me, no
And I'm in no hurry, no no no, I know where to go

California, a prophet on the burning shore
California, I'll be knocking on the golden door
Like an angel, standing in a shaft of light
Rising up to paradise, I know I'm gonna shine

You've all been asleep,
You would not believe me
Them voices telling me,
You will soon receive me
We're standing on the beach,
The sea will part before me
(Fire wheel burning in the air)
And you will follow me,
And we will ride to glory
(Way up the middle of the air)

And I'll call down thunder
And speak the same
And my word fills the sky with flame
And might and glory gonna be my name
And men gonna light my way

My time coming, anyday, don't worry bout me, no
It's gonna be just like they say, them voices tell me so
Seems so long I felt this way and time sure passin slow
My time coming, anyday, don't worry about me, no

Don't worry about me...

we, in the Napa Valley use it all the time to designate Napa Valley whatever. You have no idea how many businesses use Napa Valley in their names. NV Tire, NV Wine Auction (which has just changed to Auction Napa Valley). Etc. Just easier and faster to type NV... no offence meant to Nevada.

He doesn't pretend to be anything more than he is, and I don't either.

Born on the Iberian Peninsula. Founder of the stoic school of thought.

You have to be stoic to endure these tough times. Plus, try to keep reason from being clouded by emotion (hope that doesn't sound Spockish - just trying to frame the idea in lay terms). :-)

42. David Berkowitz rented from a man with dogs....
Cassara's... Cassara's German shepherd was a noisy dog and howled frequently. The neighborhood dogs howled back. In David's diseased mind demons lived within the dogs and their howling was the way they ordered David to go hunting for blood -- the blood of pretty young women.

According to Berkowitz, he was driven to the edge: "I'd come home to Coligni avenue like at six-thirty in the morning. It would begin then, the howling. On my days, off, I heard it all night, too. It made me scream. I used to scream out begging for the noise to stop. It never did."The demons never stopped. I couldn't sleep. I had no strength to fight. I could barely drive. Coming home from work one night, I almost killed myself in the car. I needed to sleep....The demons wouldn't give me any peace."

44. It's a very old family name.
Through extensive genealogical research, I have discovered literally millions of Effingbrokes worldwide, inhabiting every continent - I've heard rumors there are even a few Effingbrokes in Antarctica. Without a doubt, much more common than the ubiquitous Smith or Jones.

Sadly, new family members are being added at a seemingly exponential rate, and I chance upon heretofore-unknown relatives at every turn. The inevitable introductions follow the same sorrowful path, to wit:

long-lost relative - "Hi, I'm (your name here) Effingbroke!"

me - "I'm Sylvia Smoot-Hawley, and I'm also Effingbroke - join the club!"

65. Long ago....
I set the remnants of a bottle of water on top of my computer. Slowly, over time, it festered and turned green. When I was creating my account, I was looking around for name ideas, saw the bottle said "Do Not Refill" on it, figured that was GREAT advice considering the inch of green scum in the bottom of the bottle, and my name was born.

Also tired of liberal getting a bad rap. Not here, but everywhere else - at least it seems.

68. 1993 was a good year for me.
I really "heart" it.
I was also a DJ in the Jump Rope for Heart at my school. It seemed appropriate.
I was a long time lurker before I got the courage to post.

69. "Two by two, hands of blue..."
...is the eerie refrain intoned by emotionally-fragile River when she recalls the perpetrators of the painful experiments she was subjected to in the special government academy.

It's from the TV show "Firefly" and the upcoming movie "Serenity" by Joss Whedon.

77. Zorra
The Legend Of Zorra
In the early days of Spanish California, there were many injustices dealt the people by evil Governors. Only one woman opposed them, she was garbed in black and her name was.....ZORRA. (Well, actually that is from the old Zorro series, but I had to change the O to an A make it a female name)

Zorra means "fox" and can mean bitch in Spanish.

Zorra spelled backwards is Arroz, which means rice in Spanish. Rice is the staple that feeds over half the world.

79. someone i love calls me...
But i think of the moniker as sweet heart.
It is both too personal and common, a bitchy crabby person... lke
"yea sweetheart"... to a seer... a million year old ghost of
myself long dead, re-read from the archives by an archeologist of
ancient civilizations.

This name change amnesty had me seriously debating going anonymous
with an id like "573F83A3225" but then i figured i'd forget my own
ID if i had to re-log in... and what the heck.

Sweetheart is the opposite of how i feel sometimes. I feel like
a callous asshole who failed in my duty to protect the constitution
for those whom i love... and sometimes, she's a she... and sometimes
a he.

As well, i'm bad at remembering usernames, and am sweetheart on
about 10 other sites... except ebay. :-)

In a propaganda sense, if the sweet heart, is against bush and pro
feminism and pro justice, its just a matter of time until the bastards go down.

At least i have to believe that, or i've been wasting my time these
years. I figured that i'd delete the ID come this winter solstice,
and now figure i'll just be a mute lurker, putting my energy back
in to action... like my hero Rousseau once wrote:
I may be asked whether i am a prince or a legislator that i
should be writing about politics. I answer no: and indeed that is
my reason for doing so. If I were a prince or a legislator I
should not waste my time saying what ought to be done; I should
do it or keep silent.

In the spirit of Rousseau, 2005 is a year to get back to 'doing it'.

90. Mine is because.......
I got to see Maya Angelou speak in person about 6 years ago. She made such an impact on me because of her authenticity, her power and her ability to speak from her soul, that I finally got a glimpse of the kind of voice that I would one day like to uncover. She has a unique cadence when she speaks. So when I was thinking of coming on here and starting to peak out with my voice...that's what I thought of.

I was going to change my username last month but decided to keep the username I have.

My family clan was part of the great Ui Neill (O'Neill) clan of Ulster in 14th century Ireland. They were from the Fanad peninsula between Lough Swilly and Mulroy Bay, in the northeast of the barony of Kilmacrenan, county Donegal. The sept of Ua Bresleáin (O'Breaslan or Breslin) are noted as early chiefs of Fanad, later noted as Brehons (Lawyers/Thugs :) )for Maguire of Fermanagh.
