11. I've seen it too.
I take it to be that Americans are so presumptous that they think they can bless God, as opposed to God blessing us mere mortals.

I much prefer the one I see in my parking lot at work -- "Dear Lord, protect me from Your followers".

12. I took it as being very arrogant also.
Like God needs our blessing, not the other way around.

7. What it means
If you worship God, God will take care of you. Not necessarily true, but that's what it means.

10. I don't think so; I see it as a false idol.
I'm offended by "God Bless America" stickers too.

Again, the fundie nutjobs who just barely share my Christian beliefs have forgotten to read Matthew.

Is Matthew being left out of current Bible versions?

Mine was printed in 1978, so perhaps so?!

24. I said it was not necessarily true.
My own personal theory; you do your best and hope God is merciful.

25. My philosophy as well.
And I believe He truely is to those who sincerely do do their best.

But I believe the idjots who came up with this arrogant, tasteless BS (I made a pun!) have some serious 'splainin' to do!

4. i refuse to believe that the all powerful
omnipresent omnicient creator of the universe needs the saccarine praise of his creatures and that in the absense of this flattery, he becomes petulant.

9. from the devil's dictionary
prayer: to ask that the laws of the universe be anulled on behalf of an intercessor, admittedly unworthy.

Please tell me this is a joke.

Please...

These people bear as much similarity to me as Alan Keyes does.

Oh, :puke:

18. It would take the wisdom of thousands of Biblical scholars to work that
one out.

Thinking about their logic makes my head hurt BADLY.

27. I seem to recall Al Sharpton saying something similar on the
campaign trail this year. He said something to the effect of instead of asking God to bless America, it's time for America to bless God and he then went through a list of ways America could show it is blessing God by taking care of the least among us, healthcare reform, etc
