What is the meaning behind your avatar choice?
Mine is b/c a DUer, I'm not sure who it was, said to put an upside down flag as your avatar if you think there was election fraud.

And the meaning of yours?

Decided, in 1940, to change their name to the Steelers in order to differentiate themselves from the Major Leaguie Baseball club of the same name, as well as celebrate Pittsburgh's heritage as a steel-producing area.

40. I doubt they will.
There's always next year.

I didn't agree with the decision to start Manning. I thought Warner was doing alright. Manning needed to gradually be worked into the system. Like, play him late in the game if there's a blow out or now that there's little chance of making the playoffs, I can see starting him now.

But the G-Men were 5-4 when they benched Warner. In the NFC this year, that record was good enough to keep them in the playoff hunt.

Manning has gone 0-4.

was the sentence (and I'm paraphrasing here), "Tell me if anything comes of this." By the time the civilized world was allowed to see and decipher his writings, sketches, etc, we had already figured nearly all of it out. It's one of the West's greatest failures, not to have supported this genius.

Edited on Wed Dec-15-04 07:03 PM by Xithras
I hiked every backcountry park in the trail as a kid (not their full length, but I've been on them all at some poitn), and when I was 18, I bungeed off the "diving board" on top of Half Dome (got a nasty fine for it too).

It just seemed fitting when I saw it in the avatars list :)

In case you're curious, this is the diving board:

Oh, and this is the view straight down from the Diving Board...that's the floor of the Yosemite Valley from 4,700 feet up. I got to stare at that for several minutes while my buds argued with the park ranger and hauled me back up:

77. Love that place
Best field trip of my kids schooldays was a backpack trip to the top of Half Dome. That was right b4 they decided you couldn't spend the night up there anymore.
Haven't hiked on all the trails there but have done many of them. It's amazing with all the people that go to the park every year, if you are a 1/2 mile or so away from the road, chances are you won't see too many people.
Lived 25 miles from the entrance to the park for 25 years. Miss it

84. Political freedom fighter from my favorite sci-fi show.
It's British, so you know that (a) it's low budget, (b) has more intelligence in its writing than most American shows, and (c) it's far more daring. ('daring' as in the scope of the plots, especially with American programming of the time. It's not 'daring' as in "how many reindeer testicles can you eat on today's 'Fear Factor?'")
