2. Noooo! Don't tell me that Uncle Jed died!

Serious? No way! I love Jed Clampett.

Buddy Ebsen was a Republican, though, who campaigned for Nancy Kulp's Republican opponent when she ran for Congress in PA. He even did a radio add that said, "Nancy, you're too liberal for me. I've got to go with Bud Schuster." She lost. Don't know the year this all happened, but it was a huge media event.

Edited to add that Nancy played Jane on the Bev Hillbills.

4. I believe the year was 1984
And after the election, Kulp and Ebsen never spoke again. Don't know if they were friends before the election, but if they were, it doesn't say much for Ebsen that he ruined a friednship to campaign for a man he didn't know just because he was a Republican. The best parts of The Beverly Hillbillies were Miss Jane and Granny.

5. It was spiteful and unprofessional of him...
He should have just kept his mouth shut. Her loss was attributed to his counter campaign, and that wasn't fair.

IMO, anyway.

I loved all of the characters...loved Jane and Granny too!

7. On Entertainment Tonight
several years ago, probably around Nancy Culp's passing they had Max Baer Jr. on. Max said she requested in her final days to see Buddy Ebsen but she didn't think he would come because she thought he was mad at her for being an outspoken liberal. Max relayed the message to Buddy who in turn said that he was not at all mad at her.

Buddy did go to see her before she died. I still liked Buddy Ebsen even though he was a Repub. Nobody's perfect.

3. I am sure the right will find a way to blame it on Clinton
considering they tried to blame Clinton for the death of his dog, Buddy.

8. As much as I loved the character of Uncle Jed...
I despised Buddy Ebsen. He was a longtime Orange County wingnut. Maybe he can keep Strom company.
