T.O. Out for Season
Edited on Mon Dec-20-04 05:49 PM by Jack_Dawson
PHILADELPHIA (AP) -- Eagles star receiver Terrell Owens will miss the rest of the regular season and possibly the playoffs and Super Bowl because of a sprained right ankle.

Owens will have surgery Wednesday and stands only an outside shot at being able to play in the NFL's championship game on Feb. 6 _ if Philadelphia makes it that far -- head trainer Rick Burkholder said.

Damn...that did look like an uncomfortable way to sit down. Hope T.O. recovers quickly - he's good for the league.

1. Well actually.
The doctor says he could be back as early as the NFC Championship game though that chance is slim. Super Bowl is probable.

2. Superbowl w/o T.O.?
Well actually, the Eagles ARE in the NFC. Guess it could happen.

4. The NFC sucks beside the Eagles.
Even without T.O. the Eagles still go to the Bowl. Winning it all will be difficult without him though. McNabb and Westbrook are still there you know. In fact, losing one of them would be far worse.

12. Yes, because the NFC sucks donkeys, the only team to benefit will be
the AFC champs. Here's hoping it's the Steelers! :toast:

5. The Eagles would have to avoid choking in the playoffs
Playing without T.O. would make choking easier.

7. Nobody in the NFC to challenge them...
With or without T.O. I think McNabb is the real star of that team.
How about your "San Diego SUPERCHARGERS!"
Division Champs. Congrats.

9. Thanks! It's pretty exciting
since nobody excected crap from them. Plus, it's been 9 years since the last playoff berth, so everyone is pretty jacked up.

17. Yeah, but...
http://sports.espn.go.com/nfl/news/story?id=1950067

Without Owens, the Eagles will be left with basically the same lackluster receiving corps that has disappeared when needed in the title games. Freddie Mitchell or Greg Lewis could join Pinkston as the other starting wideout. Those three have a combined 60 catches for 1,073 yards.

Reid said the Eagles will activate wide receiver Billy McMullen.

"Freddie's going to get his chances to make plays," Owens said. "There shouldn't be any more excuses as to why he's not getting the ball. Now he gets his chance."

In two playoff games last year, the Eagles had one touchdown catch from a wide receiver.

None of the wide receivers caught a pass in the second half of the Eagles' 12-7 win over the Cowboys.

6. Hell Yes!
You might not like the showboating, but it sells tickets and generates interest. Personally I think his showboating is hilarious and dude has the game to back it up. Plus, I'm a Niners fan so I got to see a lot of it.

10. The difference between T.O.'s act and...
guys like Iverson and Bonds is Terrell looks like a guy who is having a great time.
Compare that to Iverson and Bonds who seem to allways be having a bad day.

13. What is wrong with Iverson?
As far as I know his teamates look up to him and ever since he has been a 76er, he has carried his teamates and his team. There is a little respect for him and his toughness, however, shouldn't be compared to the George W. Bush of Baseball Bonds.

8. Man you people have him all wrong.
So what if he celebrates Touchdowns? This makes him a bad guy and a headcase? No, T.O. is a great team player who wants to win more than anything. He's never done anything to hurt the game. Never been accused of murder, never been arrested for DUI, never done drugs, never has done anything but play hard. I don't understand the hatred.

If T.O. was on the Lions he would dig his act. People who hate on T.O. because he celebrates touchdowns come off as jealous and petty.

It isn't like everyone has business suits on out there. NFL is only alive because it can be sold as entertainment.

26. my god damn problem??
I think you may have one if you get upset that I simply express my opinion.

In case you haven't noticed, I despise TO. The man is BAD for the sport of football, plain and simple. He puts himself above the game, which should never happen.

He feels he is the show, not the team. I have a big problem with that.

I have a problem that he outs his gay teammates publicly (Garcia).

The list is long as to why I despise TO. I hope he has a nice brilliant career as he desires and then burns out quickly and forever.

The only sad part is after his career is over they will probably put him in the announcer's booth and I will have to hear him for anohter decade or so.

28. It's not developing, it's fact.
This was reported on in the news last night in Philly. TO has a fractured fibula and a sprained ankle. They know he is going to be out for the rest of the season. He is "doubtful" for the potential Super Bowl. Those are the facts of the case.

but it was reported last night. You posted this today, didn't you? I'm not trying to be rude, just clarifying what the facts were. I'm in Philly so this is 24-hour a day news here, for obvious reasons.

Sorry if you feel I was rude.
