How do I "re-animate" smilies?
I just reformatted my computer and installed SP2. So far, so good, but none of the smilies (gifs) are animated on any of the sites I go to. Any ideas on how to fix this? Thanks!

MSFT's Internet Explorer, anyway.

IE > tools > internet options > advanced > Multi-Media "play animations in webpages - ON" (check in box to "on")

4. I figured it out!
Go to "Tools" > "Internet Options" > click on the "Advanced" tab > scroll down to "Multimedia" > click on (put a check mark in) "Play animations in web pages".

See if that works for you! :)

5. What kind of problems did you incur when installing MSFT's
Service Pack 2, if any? That is, besides this animation stuff.

6. I haven't encountered any problems so far.

I was rather reluctant to install the POS, but it was time for a reformat, so I bit the bullet and installed it. I have 33 processes running right now, whereas before I had 25-30 (depending on what I was doing), so I guess there's some new crap running that I'm gonna have to dig around and figure out how to disable. Internet connection and download speeds seem to be about the same. I have the SP2 firewall turned off, as I am running ZoneAlarm (I have tried others, but like ZoneAlarm the best). SP2 seems to have come with a "downloads for dummies" app, where you are asked several times whether you REALLY want to download that program.

I honestly can't tell much difference at this point, except for annoying reminders - I just got finished reformatting about 3 hours ago, so I guess I'll wait and see.

on edit: I had read on many computer help sites that the best way to install SP2 was with a clean install. I have had the SP2 disc since June or July or whenever they were mailed, but figured I'd screw things up if I just threw it on without reformatting.

7. ah-ha! and thanks . . . oh, btw, here's a great little
program for adware, spyware and other such stuff too. It also can tell you what programs are running and what programs "start-up."

You've probably heard about it: WinPatrol
