Just got back from a trip to the pharmacy and I'm steamed. I was driving down the road in town near the high school and I saw two kids ahead who were standing at a crosswalk. Obviously, they were waiting to cross - they each had a skateboard under an arm and were patiently looking both ways waiting for traffic to stop (as is the law in CA).
As I approached I watched no less than SIX cars coming the other way go by them without stopping. I stopped when I reached the crosswalk but the kids still had to wait for two more dumbasses on their side who didn't bother.
These kids were young, maybe 12, they were in plain view with no parked cars blocking them, it was broad daylight, they were doing exactly what they're supposed to do and no one (but me) had the courtesy to stop for them. :wtf:
It really burns me up because this is not the only time I've seen kids completely ignored if they're not accompanied by an adult. People seem to think the rules don't apply or something. As a parent, it pisses me off because we spend a lot of time teaching our kids to do the right thing and then when they do, very often idiots like those I saw today, don't respect or respond to it. What does that tell a kid?
Sorry, I just really needed to rant about that. I like kids and these two were acting responsibly and getting burned for it and that just ticks me off! Injustice sucks! :grr:
