I blew off Classmates.com - so should you!
Subject: Other

Why I won't renew my membership. $39 per year is an awfully steep price to barraged
by non-stop pop up ads. Trying to contact friends that can't respond or view profiles
unless they join the site. Plus, classmates.com supports the fascist administration
in Washington. Why should my money support you?

Ciao, ciao, classmates.com!

BTW, http://www.graduates.com is FREE!!!!!!!!!!

1. I don't support any of them
because I really don't care what happened to the assholes I went to high school with.

7. In the immortal words of Ricky Nelson...
...If you want to play at garden parties,
I wish YOU a lot of luck,
'cause if memories were all I need,
I'd rather go get f*&*#d!

Precisely how I feel about High School reunions!

9. Argh - those places are terrible for how much money they want
They have the dumbest survey questions - like who the hell cares what car you drive!

10. I actually was able to catch up with two old friends that I had lost
touch with and now that we have one another's emails, we correspond frequently.

I plan to cancel it next time the "subscription" is due, but it was worth it to find those two.

11. Just did the free bit
Once a year I might look for familiar names. Found a girl I used to fancy in one class. Turns out she was a religious nut. And I thought she was nice. Then they started charging for even reading the brief bio bits. If someone wants to cough up money to contact me, then go ahead. But why?

My memories are fonder for periods after schooling. My world wandering, backpacking years. There's a free site for folk who might want to try connecting with their old mates:

http://www.LostAmigos.net

A couple years ago I signed up and promptly forgot about it. A couple weeks ago, there came a message from a Dutch chick who remembered me from 22 years ago. Now we've been playing Do You Remember?...... I really don't want excavate my closet for old photos to scan at work.

There is no way that I would pay $39.

16. Found an old Army buddy of mine.

And we've exchanged some anti-Bush e-mails etween us, and complained about getting fat (me) and bald (him). In that respect, they have been useful, but for my High School? UGH! I went to my 20th this year, and it was a YAWNFEST! 3/4 of them never left Yakima.:eyes:

EDIT: We also talked about how much of a rip off Classlessmates is, and haven't renewed our memberships for 2 years!

17. Attention High School Haters!
What about the people you did get along with?

I hated high school with a F***ing passion! However, I was able to connect with kids I did get along with and met a few that I was too shy to approach.

Oh... did I mention that http://www.graduates.com IS FREE????
