Let's make fun of the way Pickles dresses
I've seen lots of threads not necessarily related to the subject where people discuss the First "Lady's" lack of dress sense. Why not start one devoted completely to the subject?

What the hell is this?

1. I've noticed lately
that she appears to be wearing a corset.

Slim, but very stiff and upright.

2. Yeah
She looks like she's lost some weight. That still hasn't helped her "fashion" sense.

9. And the other upholstery.
Gone With the Wind. Didn't Scarlett O'Hara convert the drapes to a dress?

10. Yeah, but she was poor
and that dress was flattering.

13. Yes, there was a shortage of materials,
and she did well with what she had.

However, there was a Carol Burnett version of the same drapery to dress conversion, more in keeping with the Pickles style of dressing.

Carol Burnett took down the velvet drapes, converted them to an attractive gown, but did not remove the drapery rod which went across her shoulders, and stuck out on each side.

7. This is her Crawford outfit.
When they visit the Crawford "ranch" she becomes Mistress Laura and makes him beg her to spank welts on his buttocks because he's been a naughty, naughty boy.

15. This could explain the "pretzel" incident - Pickles missed with her whip?

8. There is no answer to your question,
"What the hell is this?"

Unexplainable. And what is that thing draped over her arm?

12. she wears the most god awful dowdy looking clothes
she certainly could use all the fashion tips she could get her hands on.
I dont think i have ever seen her in anything classy looking.
I guess thats the look of the conseratives go for.
YYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYUCK she looks like shit somebody needs
to tell her.
I still think Jackie Kennedy was the best dressed first lady ever.
For that time period she dressed very fashionable with loads of class.
I'd love to know who the hell picks these clothes for Laura she always looks like she shops at Lane Bryant.

16. The gold ballgown with the blue sash
is my pick for worst dress ever. Whoever let her out in public wearing that wanted her to look like a goddamn fool.

17. That blue ribbon thing was hilarious
Edited on Sun Dec-26-04 02:52 AM by GRLMGC
She just tied an ugly, short blue ribbon around her waist. A waist clad in some of the ugliest material I've ever seen.

On edit: I can't for the life of me find a link to that picture. I've seen it around here on DU, too.

19. Some of those clothes look like the awful things..
we made for our Barbies in the sixties. According to the Kitty Kelly book, my hubby tells me, ol' Laura hides out from the family most of the time, reading and chain smoking. Maybe we should just be pittying the poor woman for the predicament she's married into, sort of like battered wives. Well, it's Christmas and I guess I'm trying to be understanding for a change.

20. She looks like a younger version of...her mother-in-law.
A good Republican wife. Most (with the exception of Nancy Reagan) Republican wives look and dress very dowdy.
